7 - Fermín López

Very impressive how he handled that psychological difficult summer for him, watching his teammates become world champions in front of the TV, worked hard and gained an impressive form. He's a starter without a doubt now. Even his passing and dribbling improved. An absolute highlight so far in this early season. Hansi must be really happy. He's what Flick wished Gavi will turn into.

He looks like prime Platini out there. No way Bellingham is better than him. € 120M player easily in this market.

Fermin, Olmo, Pedri, Rodri, De Jong. Stacking those MFs like in the good old times.

Anyone shitting on Fermin hasn't got a clue. He's been Barca's most positive midfielder for some time now, always the one most likely to disrupt the opponent's defense and create goalscoring opportunities. And getting better and better with this front line ahead of him.

Blessing in disguise is all I can say, yes he lost out on WC and they could've really used him but a player who already seemed to have a fire in his belly has even more motivation...and it shows

We don't have a profile like Fermin at Barça in the 1st team, incredible how he has become so important

Absolutely love players like Fermin. So much energy and so effective.

Or are there even players like him out there. We're blessed.

Such a shame he was injured this summer. He deserved a WC medal also.

Pretty sure he would bench Olmo or Baena and Spain would be even better. Anyway, he's still got time for that and he is even hungrier because of that. Not a typical La Masia midfielder but amazing anyway.

I hope he can be consistent in CL this season, it would be the next step in his development.

He had 6G+4A in 11 games in CL last time which might seem good but a lot of those points came in bulk. In 6 of the games it was 0+0 for him.

I had missed this topic during the press conference but interesting way Flick described the rotation between Olmo & Fermin - he critiqued ever so casually where Fermin must improve

Fermín López:

"My beginnings weren't always easy. I received the occasional mock because of my height and my physique, which made me feel inferior during my youth academy days. It was a difficult time, but I managed to overcome it thanks to my family and the people who loved, and still love, me. My physique made it a complicated period. There was always the running joke of 'Fermín, the little one’. At first, you laugh it off and act like it doesn't affect you because you don't want to take it the wrong way, but when you hear it over and over again, it really starts to get to you..."

"You start to think that you can't compete with kids your own age, that you don't have the same strength, that you're just too short... That whole situation makes you feel inferior and deeply insecure. Watching yourself fall short is painful. You end up isolating yourself from your teammates, too. I spent a lot of tough moments alone in my room. All that anxiety stays inside you. I kept feeling like my time was never going to come... everyone else was playing except me. My teammates looked like grown men and I didn't... It was a really hard time."

Now it's clear where his energy and hard work comes from. It shows despite physical disadvantage, you can still reach the first team starting role. His path should be a big motivation for all the boys in Masia. The American La-Masia dream.

There are only two outcomes in these times: --you let it break you and leave your sport behind for good, because you believe their voices.
-you keep, despite all the haters, fighting for your dream and grow mentally from it. You need a great character and will to keep going.

You can see the fight he has in him in every game and that made him grow into the player he is today. Should be an inspiration for everyone.

And I can tell you where the kids who have mobbed him all the time are now: far behind him.

You can tell he plays with a chip on his shoulder, I’m sure missing out on WC only added to it

Not a great match from Fermin I thought but even his pre-assist to Raphinha on Lamine's 1st goal vs Levante was somewhat fortunate as he overcooked the pass and benefited from the defender deflecting it enough to allow Raph to get on the end of it...else if the ball goes through I think it is way too long to get to
