5 - Pau Cubarsí

Flick says this is the best team he's had since he arrived and cuba has leveled up since the WC.

It's amazing what being coach by a manager that focuses on defensive structure for 6-7 weeks can do for a player. Imagine if he had this for an entire season.

Also said he will get better has he develops physically. (Obviously)

de la Fuente has to get a lot of credit in the development of yamal and cubarsi.

Even olmo has played better for him than he's done for us so far, if we look at the euros and WC.

I wonder what he would do with fermin.

Only Pedri struggles under him, but I'm sure he will figure that out soon, will be a lot easier now that he's playing with rodri revul

Olmo also said that winning the world cup has pushed his confidence to the next level.

It's probably the same for Cubarsi instead rather than 7 weeks working with fookin' De La Fuente

This would be my biggest arguement for retaining Le Shark for another season as well. Even if he did ultimately leave on a free come 27/28.

It's confidence thing. A defense led by Cubarsi had best defensive record in history of World Cup.

This is what confirms to everyone, and most importantly to Cubarsi himself, that he is world class.

But there is nothing he developed under De la Fuente. It's Luis who should be thankful to Barça they gave him such a player, not the other way around.

He got better physically as well and that plays a role. But he has been our best defender for last 2 seasons.

Yea there was nothing different that DLF did at the world cup that led to such great defending 😂.

How many clean sheets has Cubarsi kept in the CL for Barca again?. 16? Lol

Now it's cubarsi that led the defense, gone are the he needs an experience defended beside him to lead the defense so he can just focus on defending, if 4 weeks ago

It depends on team's game plan. High line Flick Barca will expose even the greatest defender of all times. It's a high attacking, mostly rewarding, risky football.

On the other hand DLF's approach was quite easy, slow tempo, static football. Cubarsi and Rodri made the difference in most games, not for mindblowing defending, but playmaking. Nobody considers Cubarsi to be the next Puyol, but the next Koeman.

Agreed. And naturally when a player goes from this high line system to DLF approach, he will LOOK better. Does not mean he IS any better. It's the same player, just in a different system. So DLF did not do anything to develop him.

Mind you at no point did I say develop, I said amazing what a good defensive structure can do for a player.

Development continuation.

But here comes the flick boys not taking two seconds to understand what was written.

But noted National team coaches can't help to improve players.

Fecked up at their goal. In the box you don't wait for the ball to land on your head to clear it, you attack it. Rodri seemed angry with him there. These types of errors can't happen in CL.

A bit of a similar error to the one vs Belgium. Too passive when crosses come his way.

As i understand, there will be another game, right? 4 games in total. It's not some kind of huge charity to let every player on the squad rest at least one of them, given that these are all friendlies with no meaningful purpose other than to test various options for upcoming tournaments. But give credit to DLF that he doesn't exhaust our guys to the fullest like he used to. Took off Lamine at HT and subbed Rodri, Pedri and Olmo fairly early in second against Ceh. They were all chilling on they field anyway.
