-0 goals conceded versus Messi

Legendary tournament from Cubarsi and our defence.

It was a costly mistake and definitely not his first but people need to calm down with the criticism on this guy

He's been massive in second half of this season and he is far and away our best CB and likely best defender overall too not counting Joan
Most over criticised player in the team this season. The loss vs Atletico was partially on him, but it was a very unlucky red. I'm sure he learnt from his mistake (if you can call it like that), and we will see a even more confident, more experienced version of Cuba next season.

We have a fucking stud on our hands gentelmen.

He will look back in 5 years and laugh at the wild high line he had to experience as a 17 year old

What a performance under pressure, don't forget this is his first time, he wasn't around for EURO as most of the other Spaniards. The best CB in the WC, best young player all very deserved. Seems like a very smart, nice and humble guy.

Hope Flick took something from this Spain WC about the system around Cubarsi and the personel. Our defense should be built around him for the next 15 years.

This should get him a load of confidence and respect, I expect a Cubarsi on an even higher level next season.

What is astounding about his level, is that CB is generally a very old position where young players struggle.

It is the position arguably most based on experience, and its usually much harder for young players to break through, whilst older players occupy starting positions for extended periods of time.

Regardless, he has an excellent claim to being the best CB in the world.

Even more shocking is it isn't particularly based on athleticism. He is athletically fairly average. He is just so, so good. Like, he is just exceptional at what he does and his knowledge of defending.

If you look at how he marks players, he does not allow an inch of space, and he never switches off, he follows the play to the end.

So he looks like the best defender in the world, which was what he was looking like when he first got promoted.

Basically he looks the business in a proper defensive structure.

Stunning.

The biggest take away from this is the maturity and growth it will bring him
