4 - Ronald Araújo

After the leaks that the club is willing to sell Kounde, Balde, and Araujo, this came out yesterday that Araujo doesn't consider leaving, although he is aware the club wants a centre-back.

If we receive any good offers then out without question. He should be told that he won't be part of the squad.

He redeemed his early bad form in 2023-24 with a great performance in the first leg in Paris. Unfortunately, all gone to dust in the second leg.

Wanted to write that he's much younger then Umtiti was when he retired from serious football (July 2018) but that's not true. Araujo will be 32 when his current contract expires  Good luck trying to get rid of him if he really decided to go down the leach path. This summer will tell a lot about what kind of professional he is...

The contracts given to him and Fati were a joke... baffles to think why we renewed him on a 6 year deal at 15m gross.

Will be harder to get him to leave as the clubs who will be able to pay a good fee and cover his contract might not be ones he wants to go to.

He wants to go down Umtiti route.
Wanted to write the same. Crazy when you think all of us thought they are an integral part of the team and will be a starting CB for a decade.

Looks like it would be better to sell when you get the opportunity to sell a CB for good money.

People don’t realize there are these type of players that don’t like to get out of their comfortzone. Jordi Alba was another one. He was waiting for other players to retire so they could make a move together.

Araujo is like that as well. He prefers to warm bench at Barca than to try a new challenge.

Problem is, we're probably one of the "nicest" clubs to players - we don't push anyone away and extend players like Christiansen because we "feel pity". If a player like Ara started to feel mentally bad here than he sure as fuck will fucking die at another club - most clubs give 0 fucks... you get paid 10-20M a year, suck it up or gtfo. But sure, we're "mes que un club" 😑

We're only mes que un club hypocrites in some situations, Laporta had no problem kicking out our biggest legends like dogs... We can't hurt Lewa's or Christensen's feelings, we must give them a new contract... Meanwhile fuck Messi, Xavi and Koeman.

Messi we couldn't keep because FFP and our finical situation etc. Both Xavi and Koeman sucked and talked to much shit about everything.

Xavi claims the deal was done and approved by LaLiga until Laporta pulled the plug.

Who knows.

I do think it's possible Laporta wanted to move on from the Messi era with his salary being a big consideration.

Yeah, I don't buy it - it was most probably far more complex of a situation.

He'll need to go right? What's the point of keeping him if he hardly gets any minutes? But who would be in for him? Could we maybe include him in a transfer for a CB/RB/LB/ROW/9?

Zero minutes, yet according to the latest reports he still has no intention to leave and want to fight for a starting spot.

I'll be really disapointed in him if he stays because it would clearly be just about the wage. He would benefit from leaving the toxic situation that he created himself at Barca, he would leave all the pressure behind, he could play in a system much more suited to him but nobody will give him a wage as high as Barca's. Hope he doesn't turn into another leach but it looks like he will.

Flick is somewhat non confrontational when it comes to player sales. It seems to me he doesn't like to get involved in it and probably other than giving the club his recommendations, he keeps out of transfer business.

He is nice to the squad, as players have said, he is considerate of all including the ones who don't play and is usually positive when asked about any player.

That is a great thing about him and its why the players love playing for him, but it might also be why its harder for certain players to leave as Flick wouldn't freeze them out even if they aren't needed (eg Casado).

Araujo needs to be told that he won't play and to find a new club, if there are good offers then he needs to be removed without question but I don't think this is how Flick likes to run the locker room. So it would have to be the club doing it.
