29 - Hamza Abdelkarim

That's his reference point? Guiu? Do we want him for some games here and there in early Copa phases vs 3rd league sides? I feel like people don't understand what a main striker at Barcelona is supposed to deliver.

Loan material for me shoehorned into an option out of most likely panic at this point.
I don't think anyone expects him to be our main striker...

But he can be a solid squad player for now by the looks of it.

You see this guy able to bring in 20-25 goals next season, winning duel vs best defenders in the league? I sure don't. That's what I'm talking about as main option for the first team at 9.

Who said he will be the main man? You are disputing a claim that no one has made.

We had Torres and Lewandowski last season, every one of those two scored many goals. Even if he's 2nd option he has huge shoes to fill. Is he good enough for 2nd option at that level?

I have a feeling we'll chase Alvarez until the end, and then go for him again in January.

We won't be seeing any #9 signing this window if it's not Alvarez.

Then it's shite. And we're really gonna put to the test the so called Hansi Flick ability to turn average 9s into big scorers. The alternative is maybe Lewandowski and Ferran didn't get enough credit for their work here lately.

It's a shit plan due to terrible planning if that happens, but that's the feeling I'm getting.

Would be a terrible transfer window by Deco with no #9 or CB even with Rodri signing.

Yeah, boxed ourselves into a corner so that even signing Rodri makes it seem we made one step forward two steps back this summer. If we didn't have a plan extend Lewandowski for 1 more season and keep Ferran even if you lose him for free. At worst, if PSG really want him they pay more than 50-55m.

What Suarez, Sporting slapped 80m for him. No thx.
Ok, then we can negotiate. For sure they might sell for 70.
Or we should pay 120 for 6 goals Alvarez? se We had Ferran for free, strikers with numbers are not worth 50 millions. Sadly Suarez has good numbers in Portugal.

I mean preseason generally means little, but he's scoring at a good rate so far with the first team. We will see if he can keep it up in competetive games. But he looks decent. Grit, workrate and instinct are all there. Definitely not a lost cause.

Last season we basically only had Ferran/Raph/Lewy and Yamal. Don't think the frontline looks worse off at the moment with Gordon and Adeyemi. So there's not too much pressure on Hamza.

You don't replace players directly, that should be clear.

Ferran is a winger whom we turned to CF, Adeyemi is a CF whom BVB used as winger, Gordon is a winger whom Newcastle turned into a striker. The idea that those 2 isn't counted in the "replace Ferran and Lewa" is absurd to say at least.

The goals will be replaced from a team effort, by Adeyemi, Gordon, Raphinha and Lamine both stepping up and getting bigger chances that was made for others.

Obviously, we should be signing another striker that is capable of getting 10-15 goals at least.

Hamza will be asked to fill the poacher role in certain games, if he gets 10 goals in total next season he is a massive success, both for him as 18 years old (19 mid-season) and the squad building.

PS: weird that you keep mentioning number of goal for an 18 years old, and dismiss it for a potential 130M signing.

Luis Suarez from Sporting would be a terrible signing.

Don't sign strikers from Liga NOS.

Falcao was anomaly.

Rest of them are like Darwin Nunez, Gyokeres, Jackson Martinez, Bas Dost, etc.

He needs to play. Shouldn't be wasting a season as our off the bench option when he could get solid LaLiga2 minutes.

So far I really like him, but it should be unnecessary that he is an A team option this season.

It looks much worse. We loaded the wings with better back-ups and depth, and lost both starting 9s (since Lewa and Ferran almost shared 50-50 the minutes), and we don't seem to have any plan for 9 position. We can consider both Lewa and Ferran starting quality 9s for a club of our ambitions.

Overall, I don't like him much. Seems low workrate player. More of a poacher type. The only way he'd be good for us is if he bags an unusually high amount of goals for a near complete rookie.

I just don't see it. Disappears from the game very often and then pops up with a moment or two, then disappears again and barely gets involved. He's not even that strong in the air.
Again exposing your lack of eyes if not footballing knowledge. Hamza’s workrate is very high.

I mean we can try Woltemade, but he is 60 something too, raw product, a poacher.
My idea was keep Ferran, buy Woltemade, if that guy develops his potential we get one of the best poachers in football history. If not we still have Ferran and we can sell both for Haaland or whatever we find next year.
We can go Burkardt, raw too, or Lautaro?
The market is full of almost strikers.
Some are slow, some are headless, some don't even like scoring like Alvarez. But In my opinion we need one.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work like that. Players' performance are also tied to the positions they play in and the qualities they have. Same player might work in a position, and then you'd see his output drop if you ask him other things.

Dont think he can be our backup ST. Even if we dont have a backup ST, he shouldnt be trusted.
We are going for UCL & LaLiga, no team of that stature should have a Hamza as their #9 backup.

He should be loaned out. He has the potential, needs a year or two top flight football and he will be the perfect player for us.

Replacing easy goals with team goals always takes effort since none of the wingers look like natural scorers, not even Yamal has a huge consistency. It's not like we have Messi that can sleep walk into a double every game.

Gordon is not a winger whom Newcastle turned into a CF, more of a temporary fix solution, like a plasture until a better fix is found. They had Isak, lost him, signed Woltemade, but issue was for Newcastle that Woltemade didn't convince, so they shoehorned Gordon as a temporary solution at 9. That's what happened, not that Gordon naturally developed into a 9 for Newcastle.
