Fact remains the time line is irrelevant as you argued when Cubarsi got in from that January that Faye was more ready and then argued a few months after that Araujo and Kounde should start at CB ahead of him and Faye should be kept/promoted with Eric punted for peanuts.

Another very good match for him as RB.
Ideally, we sign a regular RB but it wouldn't be end of the world to rely on him.
 
Eric being good at RB means we can take a risk with high ceiling talent at RB if we sell Kounde. If the young kid is good then Eric remains someone who plugs holes in a lot of positions. If the kid flops we still have a reliable RB in Eric. That's why I liked rumors about Palestra. Older but cheaper options like Ratiu or Munoz from Palace could also be interesting.

He's the Sergi R. of today's generation. Can practically play any position in midfield and defense. Not a flashy player, but someone with a great and reliable workrate. Coaches value these type of players very high.
