21 - Frenkie de Jong

I think the opposite. FdJ is a good player but a mix of injuries, being off-form many a time and his huge wages, mean that he will most likely go down as relatively forgotten in a few years, relative to the importance he was supposed to have for us. There hasn't been any one season we really look at and say, if not for Frenkie, we'd not have done as well. I mean sure, he was really good in the league many times when he was fit, but he most definitely wouldn't go down as a top, memorable/historic player for us, if he were to leave tomorrow.

Because our mind plays a trick. We're still waiting for him to carry the team, or at least the midfield like the hype suggested back in the days.
 
Rodri-Frenkie would be our best chance of winning the CL.

But I sense we won't see the best of Frenkie this year and he will be shipped off next Summer.

Win the CL this season and I can see him open to the move- if Jammy let's him.

No issues with Frenkie leaving.. thought he should have left for free last time round.

I don’t really know what to think about him, but I do feel sorry for him. He got a huge salary because of idiot Bartomeu and his board (who wouldn’t accept a higher salary?), and because of that the media tore him apart. During covid times, he agreed to defer his salary, only for it to come out a few years later that he was supposedly making an astronomical amount (understandable). Because of all that, the fans started hating him, which realistically shouldn’t be a reason to hate someone.

Now there’s this whole story that the idiot Romero has made even worse with his lies, and of course people fall for it again. As for the injury, what he’s saying doesn’t make much sense to me. I find it impossible to believe that he didn’t feel any significant pain, and besides, he was playing with huge bandages.

All in all, I think he gets way too much criticism and is way too often targeted.
