21 - Frenkie de Jong

He most certainly was not one of the standouts.

Any objective fans would have him down as their 5/6 best player this tournament.

His fanboys can make no argument greater than 4th.

Gravenberch was by a distance thier best Midfielder in the most difficult game in the group stage.

He played well against Sweden and Tunisia. Which he has tons of space. shocking

He played well in first three games and easily one of Netherlands best players.

Gravenberch had one good game largely down to a cracking cross for the goal v Japan.

Frenkie was good that game also.

Gravenberch was then poor the next three games and absolutely atrocious yesterday.

By far and away Frenkie was one of NL best players across the 4 games and far better than likes of Gravenberch and Reijnders.

Albeit Reijnders should have started v Morocco and was dumped after being shit in first two games and decent in third.

So easy to dunk on him now without considering the fact how retarded you have to be to play with 5 defenders leaving your midfield outnumbered in today’s football.

Before yesterday everyone was saying how he has been one of the standouts for the national team this tournament. I also remember from last season how soft and lost our midfield seemed without him or Pedri, actually Pedri himself was far from himself everytime when Frenkie was out.
Would say I agree with this statement. Absolutely diabolical of Koeman to play with 5 defenders and 2 midfielders. Chicken shit tactics.

FDJ has his faults, but I wouldnt scrutinise him much from yesterday's game.

I haven't seen many "world class" midfielders held to lower standards than this guy. It's actually impressive how he does it. On here, people are making literally fewer excuses for him than they do for Pedri, who's clearly the better player and has also shown higher levels for us over his career. (Not that Pedri hasn't been shite for a while now, no denying that)

His fan base is small but very vocal, so much so they convince a few on the fence every year when he goods a little run of form before as it always does it come crashing down.

What are some of the excuses we are making for Frenkie?

Like you said,Pedri is the better player. Hence held to higher standards. Not rocket science

Think there's only one true "fan" of his, but when he goes on posting spree he is so voluminous it might appear as it's "people". He's in torpor for now.

Yeah where is Jammy de Jong these days?
Probably busy betting trying to make his losses back. He lost so much they let him do 200 large on Super Boosts. :tata:

Wammy come back, I've got a Bet Builder lined up for Argentina Pingland. Guaranteed 3/1 winner with a 50 % Winnings Boost.:bartomeu:

He will be 30 next year, this is probably the last moment to sell him for a high price so when a club like PSG wants him for 100m+ we should think about it...

He couldn't do much with the diabolical tactics Koeman chose for the game against Morocco, that match was an absolute fiasco.
I think Koeman should take a long break, do some serious soul-searching and repent for his sins.

We’ve already tried that but didn’t work out for us. Frenkie isn’t leaving unless for free. His contract expires in 2029 and I don’t see him leaving before.

Fun fact: his market value’s estimated at 35 million by TF :tata:

30 is not old age for a midfielder. And guy like Frenkie who clearly is a big professional and centers his game around tech and IQ. He will age like fine wine I think

Obviously. Starts for Barça last 7 seasons

Do you have a reason why he is not? Other than senseless gibberish people on barcaforum post
Depends on your definition. If World Class means top 5 midfielders in the world then he isn't. If you expand it further, he can get in.

World class means top 5 in the world in your position? I'd say that's not a good definition. A lot of players widely regarded as world class wouldn't fit the category. And some who don't belong there would get in. No LB bar Mendes and Cucu is world class, for example.

For me world class is someone who has all the required technical, psychological, physical skills to play at the top; competes in the most prestigious competitions in the world on regular and does it in a good way; contributes to the team and gives them some unique quality

Frenkie ticks all these boxes
