Merino outshined him in 2 minutes. He plays like an old man. Fine when he scores, waste of time when he doesn't.

If you don't rate Olmo you just don't know ball
He has his bad moments and can be frustrating but his movement off the ball, between the lines. He is a nightmare to play against

Sorry guy, the ball Olmo plays is found on cassette about Brazil 70. Pedri plays the 2002 CD vintage. All fine if you don't put them together and others run, head for them. Football changed they are all funny until they collapse and every team can just bypass them in every important game.
Should I have known better, football is played for hugs and fancy moves.

This was an important game. Was Olmo bypassed? Portuguese had no solution for him.
Not to speak of his Euro performances.

Ok, we will see, no team crashes like that with a decent midfield against Inter, Atletico etc. Blaming the defense alone is absolute pub tactics. But It's like talking parallel realities. The reality is that the subs made Spain a brilliant team again, while before it was like a FCB legends though Iniesta looks more alive than Olmo.

Literally, a midfield consisting of Olmo-Pedri just schooled the 2xUCL winning all time assist recod holding midfield of Bruno-Vitinha-Neves.
People on this forum and elsewhere were touting Portugal having the best midfield ever, even surpassing Xavi-Iniesta. lol

He and Rodri were the best midfielders on the pitch by some distance. I have no complaints about his game. I think he is a bit misutilized for us but he is the only underrated Spanish midfielder.

You are on point about everything else except Olmo. Olmo was good yesterday. Infact, almost great. He and Rodri were the reasons, Spain dominated midfield. You are also correct the subs changed the game completely. It was also due to Portugal loosing the RW battle due to Mendes going off and Merino has often scored in big games.
