Big shame that we didn't get him when he was in his prime and when Alba was declining.
He has his problems in defense definitely. But what he does in attack, how he carries that left side like even some wingers can't... it outweights all his weakness in defense.
There is a reason he played for all those top clubs.
This window we are making signings we should have made some 6-7 years ago.

The reality is, despite his defensive problems, offensively he is very gifted. Balde likely will never reach his passing ability and creativity.
Also Flick ball suits him well.
He can't defend for shite in a conservative deeper line where he has to go narrow to block either his man or a different opponent that attacks that space. It helps him a lot that he is asked to defend higher and put pressure rather than go with the man. That's basically his game.

Don't think so.
He bleeds for this shirt and will fight for it. Even more so with the squad improving. Winning a CL will be a target that looks more realistic now with the additions made this summer.
Technically he is an elite baller and alongside Lamine, Olmo and Pedri the best when it comes to ball control and skills on the ball.
Imo he also has improved his defensive work when you compare his first to his second loan. Before, Balde was obviously better against the ball. In his second loan, not so anymore.
Alba, the best LB in club's history, got owned by dominant top-class wingers. Alves, the best RB in club's history, had his blunders in defense.
Almost impossible to dominate both parts of the pitch. We can be glad that Barça got a player like him for free. Guy played for a top club in every top league.

Let’s be real, few fullbacks reach his passing ability and creativity levels. He’s top notch in that department.
Balde is a very different profile.
