He basically did not exist next to Sorloth. Who himself is not a serious striker, just a physically imposing player

He did have many bad performances. People overlooked it because they know he should not be here in the first place

And sometimes you don't need disasterclass performances before concluding a player is not at required level. Martin is very slow and very weak and not the most intelligent player around

As much as people have tried to spin it since, he was also at fault for the Inter equalizer in last minute. Like I said people know he should not be at this level, so they cut him some slack when he performs bad

This is okay. I do this as well. I don't criticize him much even when he performs bad. But we must not let this turn into delusion that he really is a top defender. If we rely on him we will probably suffer a lot against every team with a traditional number 9, like we have last season
 
He played a part in almost all the inter goals, because Dumfries was toying with him over the two legs. He contributed to the goals to balance it out.

While if you rewatch the games vs aleti he also fucked up on two goals.

But he's so much better than I ever thought he would be I'm not even going to hate.
He's the starting LCB now. Flick loves him. He's been a flick project since day 1.
 
He's a good cb but this whole "flick loves him" story the club is putting out is just an excuse not to buy a cb cuz we're broke and bad at scouting. same as "kounde can be moved to cb" stories. same as Flick "loved" Rashford too but he's now at united.

Dumfries was not 'toying' with him.

You like to claim this as like to claim Balde is the 'second best LB in the world' and up there with Nuno Mendes.

While Araujo who was far more at fault for multiple goals you claim is 'best CB at Barca'.

Clearly a professional and hard working player but severely lacking talent, speed and strength. The way Sangare just brushed him off the ball in first half and created a chance was similar to what Dumfries did in the CL semis.

I can't believe some people, in fact a considerable number of people, genuinely consider him a reliable option next to Cubarsi. I hope the board doesn't share this opinion, and signs ANYONE for LCB position in the next few days.

Agreed. Imagine him defending Bayern or PSG's attack. I have nightmares thinking about it.
 
He was grand. This is his level of football he should be playing against.

He's for LaLiga, but if we are aiming at UCL we need a better LCB.
 
He was excellent, I particularly loved his interceptions and the speed by which he arrived into interventions/clearances. Still think his passing can still improve but he plays out of pressure in an ideal manner - zero complaints. He is not only not a weakness but actually 100% someone you can count on

I do think the LCB of high quality, especially in the pass is a weapon we lack - a target that has to be on Flick's agenda still, certain of it
 
Sometimes he clears the ball when he could easily have found a teammate with a cool head. Other than that, no complaints at all.

Yeah, and sometimes he just doesn't make clear contact with the ball, looks clumsy at times in a funny way if you're not a Barca fan. He panicks when pressured, that's where the problems come from. Panic + not great technique can do that.
 
Literally a ticking time bomb. When he has his Araujo moment, everyone will turn on him. So it makes me kinda sad.

For me personally, I will never blame him or have anything against him. He is an incredible professional and a hard working player. When that moment comes, it will be entirely clubs fault if they didn't manage to bring someone to replace him.

Same for me, for him, being in the first team is a dream come true.
He is working very hard, very nice guy.
But still not enough, even at his best.
Against impact or speed player he will struggle.
 
Lazy narratives people adopted because of his lower division background. Look at his performances. This guy is a great defender. Because of his LB origins he is also more than fast enough as a center back.

He completes 94/96 passes today and people are talking about him clearing the ball? 0 times dribbled past too.

“Ticking time bomb” that never went off after 2 seasons. So why should it now if he only keeps getting better?

I urge people instead to focus on his level of ball-playing and defensive actions.
