18 - Gerard Martín

He is bound to score a golazo this year. He came pretty close few times with a howler from 30 meters last season. Has pretty underrated shot.

I agree with Flick. Martin-Cuba is great.

Only issue with Martini Racer is he is a bit weak, but that's why we hired Big Chin n Abs.

The only move we should have done is supplement the central defense with a free agent. Senesi for example, but if his wag preferred the Chinese food In London to Barcelona, then you can't really blame her.

Senesi would have been good. But I wonder if they finally trust Christensen and liked that kid we played at the end of last season as well.

Wouldn't be the worst thing if he can stay fit. Alternative is selling Joe to Juventus with a loan + obligatory purchase option we easy to reach conditions.

Uruguayans perform better in low blocks. Caceres made a career in Italy. Different eras but Araujo Is way better for example.

Once Joe is out then Laporte BO, as we clearly favour ball playing defenders for the system.

Yea his handlers really should be pushing for him to go to a low block team, in that setup he would look every good.

On a side bar..martin is a lot faster than he looks which is something I didn't realize. Another reason flick likes him.

I don't but I'm happy to be proven wrong.

Also I think if he grew is hair out. He will be respected more as a baller.

It's like Garcia with the beard. It just looks right at a CB for defenders who are seen as weak

Grow that hair out ma guy.

Flick came up with Gerard maldini? Lol

Yea anyone who doesn't rate him including myself, we are cooked he is the starting CB until he fucks up royally a few times in a row.

Own up. Which one of us is Flick.

I mean, we know who is Frenkie and who is Riqui Puig.

We just need to know now who is Flick.

You don't know ball. Gerard Maldini is a great player and will only get better

He had to make a huge jump in level, having only played in the 4th division prior to being promoted at 22 years old, and he adapted very quickly and was even a top performer in some games like vs Inter or Madrid.

For his age he has little experience, so despite being 24, he has a bigger margin for improvement than that would suggest, although he is still young. He surprised me particularly with his skills on the ball. He is not bad at all going forward, crossing and passing it.

These stories, by the way, underline that not every talent is a superstar by 17 or 18, there are still players who continue growing and breaking through slightly later in their careers. Obviously players are peaking earlier and earlier, but there are still many players in the 21-24 age range who are undiscovered/have room for development.

On the ball he is great.

Off it he is a huge weakness against every serious CF.

I doubt Barça would be so much after Bastoni early in the window if Flick saw Martin as locked in starter.

Flick knows his limitations and what to expect from him. I think if they have options they will sign a defender.

He will be a good squad option either way.

Both at LCB and at LB when Barca get the right hand side sorted and realise Yamal needs more freedom to move centrally.

How is he a huge weakness against "every serious CF" when he never had disasterclass performances at CB? It's just a lazy narrative.
