Gordon, a good signing?

There is no question who is the more consistent and important player for the team between Gordon and Adeyemi, even if the other might do some good here and there.

When opponents adapt and know Gordon can't score and will always look for the passing option, we will then know how effective he is.

For now everything is going great and he is adapting perfectly.

But what happens when they actively block the pass, forcing him to shoot and he does a Barcelona Dembele?

It's imperative for Gordan himself to work hard and improve his output otherwise he could be too one dimensional as the season progresses.

This was the problem with not signing a striker. The idea that Raphinha can fill the position is all well and good, but who is going to replace Raphinha's production on the left-wing itself?

We have moved a very prolific left winger out of position, so it is a concern if his replacement (Gordon) is not much of a goalscorer.

Gordon is a great player, but he is more a role player who would be most useful as the first rotation rather than a permanent starter.

Concur but this is also early days, for both players, which is why I expect improvement across the board - individually and, crucially, collectively

Gordon has to improve in front of goal but I think his adaptation, as attacking player acqusitions at Barça have historically gone has been superlative. There's a reason why it has gotten such coverage in media.

Apart from the language/cultural respect he showed at his presentation ahead of WC, he has adapted on/off the pitch like few foreign players before him. The respect and humility has predictably led to supporters singing his name. I get it, I feel it too - I like Gordon, a lot

He still has things to improve but so does Adeyemi and everyone else...fortunately we're only in 2nd week of September and already looks quite unreal

4 assist
Adeyemi: 2 goals, 1 assist.

They both have been given 1 assist each that were pretty easy.

Good problem to have two wingers who can contribute.

Adeyemi has better individual abilities but doesn't press as effectively as Gordon.

Gordon links up better with the team and pretty much is a raphinha clone with pressing.

If he doesn't score a lot he needs to at the very least come up with big assist and goals. Basically become raphinha under xavi not big numbers but important numbers.

Only one of his assist has been vital so far the others are just stat padding.

What I want for him are high impact goals. He scored 1 goal for England in World Cup but it was in the semifinal. Same here. He can score as little as 6 goals all season, if 1 is in Clasico, and 4 are in CL knockouts we are golden.

Take it like this. Rashford averaged 50% more goals than Giuly season average and nobody in their right mind would choose him as more effective player. Giuly's goal vs Milan is worth 50 goals due to timing, opposition level and magnitude.

I want Gordon to pick his moment and when time comes for him, to do damage. Be a big game player in short.

What people want is Neymar/Suarez/Messi. Forget it. That was once in a lifetime. 6 months ago Gordon was noone to you and now you want him to be Neymar.

Accept what we have and enjoy it. It's already great.
Stop holding this team to impossible individual standards.

Nah. People just want a Kvaratskhelia type, which is not impossible to ask for considering the money spent. So we're not venturing into legendary players territory.

Yeah. You probably want some Arab state to own Barca too.

Always great to see same people moaning about Barca even when they have one of the best starts of the season in recent times.

Just replied to your ludicrous comment about fans wanting Neymar. You decided to follow up with another ludicrous take, like Gordon was bought for 8M, not 80M.

Couldn't give a shit about who owns Barca. That Mes que un club mantra has disappeared. We taking money from Congo but we act holier than thou because we're not owned by Arabs.

Regarding Gordon's performance I believe he did well, don't think anyone expected lots of goals. But don't see a problem when people debate if 80M couldn't get you someone that scores more.

Lol. Kvaratskhelia is an extraordinary player. Gordon is not expected to be a Kvara at all.

Let me put it this way. If I am right now to pick 2 PSG players from the current side to start for 2011 Barca which is the benchmark of greatness in my book, I take Nuno Mendes and Kvara. The rest have zero chances.

To expect Gordon to be at that level is ridiculous.

Tbh I used to live in a very hot climate, and I remember checking the weather forecast daily in hope of rainfall. I think I'm one of few who actually prefers cold weather. 🤣
Yeah same, I am so used to hot weather and the day I move to a colder climate, I'll be happy for the change in climate.
