Gordon, a good signing?

If England had 10-15 more of his type of role players, they could have been world champions by now.

Germany achieved that in 2014. It's all down to mentality and... a good coach.

Remember when haters said Scouse Cule will be worse than Trashy? Well, that lasted long. 🤣 Not only is he on another stratosphere without the ball, he's much better with the ball, even dribbling is better, let alone linkup play. Really love everything about him from his play, his attitude, personality and love for the club. He is going to be huge for us, no doubt about it. He's probably already a starter too.

The addition of Gordon and Adeyemi for a combined ~ 100M does more for the team than a 9 for ~ 100M could.
Different positions, you need both to survive a season of domestic and UCL football.

Right now we have had some open games with loads of space, a feasting ground for speedy wingers. But we will also have games where there will be no space at all, and then you wish you had a guy in the box that can win headers and hold the ball.

Right now teams can pretty much let us cross into the box as much as we want, because Raphinha ain't going to be winning aerial duels against any half-decent CB.

Proving to be a very good system player and smart player to boot.

Have to see how he performs and what he can do against the better sides who choose to prioritise shutting down Lamine. That will be the test of how good he is for us.

Nice scene between him and the fans on the Insta channel of espnfc.

Good, good player with the right mentality. His interview after the Elche game was classy.

So much more than the "workhorse runner" he was touted as. Class.

Was this really the big point of contention here?
Maybe 1 or 2 questioned his qualities dunno…

But wasn’t the major issue instead of signing a 9 we are adding depth to the winger position?

He can play his socks off all he likes, but we are without 9.

Half the fanbase imploded because we signed a "no talent workhorse" for 80m. Just go 20 pages back I guess. I have never seen such an averse reaction to a signing. Not just here, everywhere. Also didn't help the media and English fanbases jumped on that train.

Two games in and they look freaking dumb.

Absolutely everybody questioned his qualities

Well, almost everybody

Still remember Tempt telling us how shit he is and liking every post saying negative about this signing.. Shame he's banned

Hmm…okay..I checked my posts in here and I am in the clear siuuu

We have some great runners now. Ade, Gordon, Rafa, Fermin all make super runs behind and Lamine, Pedri, Rodri and Olmo can throw great through balls.

All you needed to know that this would be a top signing.

He looks good to very good in all the categories you'd want from a winger at a top club. Elite in stamina and defensive contribution. Really unlocks Raphinha in the offensive part of the game.

I don't usually boast about my "Ws", but knew and told you so right from the beginning this guys would work for Flick. Weird how majority were shitting none stop on him due to "he can't dribble" or "he isn't scorer". Players with high work ethic standards, great physique and blistering pace would always work great in this system. May not be that good in slow positional play. Raphina wasn't killing it under Xavi either, but i'd wager even he would be glad to have Gordian Knot. Guy is relentless, never gets tired and always works 100% for the team. Was pleasantly surprised that his technique and dribbling is actually better than i myself thought. He had an eye for a good pass, but in this team and tactics it will be always better as there are so many more opportunities compared to Newcastle or England. Also great associative player, who understands when to drive and when to pass, unlike Rashford, who doesn't have a clue in this department at all. Even if he himself doesn't score too many goals, others will thanks to his presence. Night and day from what we usually had on LW since Neymar days.

People who claim to be diehard EPL watchers will tell you he played for Everton and Newcastle so that means he's nothing more than a Midtable talent. Oh he's also English so that means he's nothing more than a tall kick and run merchant like it's the god damn 1990s or something.

But the reality is he's the perfect modern winger. He may not be some Neymar Jogo bonita style winger out on the left but he's excellent on a technical aspect and very intelligent.

Newcastle fans defended him a lot during the transfer saga and they were right. Surround him with more great players and this guy will shine and be an important cog in the machine.
