I agree, but Deco wanted him and the story became public and dragged on, until Perez hijacked the transfer. Could have happened with Rodri the same way without the secrecy.
The best part of this signing apart from the on field benefits. Is that perez tried to out flack us by putting in a BS offer for Alvarez.

I can only speak for myself, but if I was him this moment would be touched by a ting of sadness that I wasted so many years in such a very small club like Man City.
Of course he won trophies but the scale of everything here already, is just so much more bigger than it was at City.

Rodri probably has his two best years ahead of him. He is in the best age, won't decline physically anytime soon and has the experience of a decade in world football.

Well there are some truly elite players that will over time makee these oil clubs big.
Rodri, KDB, Pep and others won them a treble and almost decade long dominance of a very strong era in PL. This will unfortunately forever write their name in the history of English football.
Same is going for PSG. They don't deserve Lucho, Nuno Mendes, Hakimi, Dembele, Kvara but they led them to back to back CL titles now and with enough years people will forget PSG was built with Qatari money and only remember this legendary team.
When with all those money you bring all the maestros together, you have teams that build incredible legacies and people remember them for just how good they were.

I don't feel PSG has the same impact as Barcelona or Madrid, even with their victory in UCL.
Something doesn't feel right about the PSG team.

I will say even though Kounde was garbage last season, his WC outings were decent and plenty of clubs were looking his way (Bayern, Arsenal etc.) and Cancelo is pure class and a proper fan, so would argue only PSG have significantly better fullbacks on paper.
Definitely looking good, our squad depth is immense bar the CF/CB/(FB) spots, even though I like Hamza alot.
Need a good CB though. Compare our defense to the CL candidates and our defense look like choir boys. Cubarsi might've had a great wc, but lets not forget he's still just a kid.

Rodri himself said yesterday he had another option and we obviously know the other option. He had both offers on the table and decided for us. That said, I think if Madrid would have accelerated his signing before the WC like they did with Silva, he would have joined them. Lucky for us Perez is a demented idiot who prefered a 32y old Silva becaues he was "free".
I really hope that he can get back to his prime form. I don't give that much about his World Cup performances. NT games are NT games - and regular club football is another cup of tea. He has to show up in the big games / in crunch time. Otherwise that transfer fee for a 30 year old with only 1 year left on the contract seems way overblown.
