16 - Rodri

Not only that.

Let's be real. FDJ is a lot, but not a real DM. Should notice the difference once Rodri gets to play.
FDJ could actually thrive more beside Rodri...if/when Pedri is out. And we still have Gavi (and Bernal) too. Really a luxury of depth in midfield now. We moved on Tommy, now we need to do the same with Casado and get some much needed funds (30M?) for the CB and also just pay the 16M for Salinas and stop haggling over a few million with Racing, they are not worth losing him over, as it would allow Cancelo to play RB more often too, which could be really good for Lamine.

But as far as midfield goes, this depth is worthy of a treble charge, I could see us maneuver all competitions quite easily, even when injuries come. Quality and quantity wise. If only we had the same level of both in defense...

50 M player fee

10 mil easy bonuses

5 mil hard bonuses

10 mil extra for the absolute RM meltdown for this transfer

I got to see some RM fans/accounts on twitter saying that he actually deserved the Ballon d'Or over Vinicius when they were sure he would go to RM.

Damn what a transfer.

Pundits usually employ the concept of the '6-pointer', when an important head-to-head game (possibly deciding the league) goes either way.
The explanation is that such games do not give only 3points to the winner, but also another 3 points for the points the direct rival is NOT getting.

Likewise, Rodri's transfer this summer is a 6 pointer in the Barca-Madrid rivalry this (and possibly the next) seasons in terms of squad competition.
We do not only get a piece that elevates what we already have, we also deny Madrid the single most important piece that would have solved their md issues...

I was much worried since the first day of the Rodri-Madrid rumors. Since we hijacked them, I am so confident that we are gonna trash them this season

Seeing Madrid media seethe and cope about how "Well actually his salary and total cost of his transfer is going to cost us over 200+Million over the next 4 years.

The number keeps on getting higher and higher every time they wheel it out. I'm sure he's on decent money but it would have been the same if he actually went to Real.

Even funnier is those are same people who will claim Madrid signed Mbappe for free

Rodri, Pedri, Olmo vs. Tchou, Valverde, Bellingham under Mouball is actually hilarious. We made fun of Xabi, Özil, Khedira midfield back in the days but that looks Premium compared to what they have now.

Teams like that can still shithouse their way to victory with 11 men behind the ball and hoofing it up to their frontmen but the actual performance on the pitch will still look funny.

One underrated aspect of his arrival is the calm presence and leadership he brings to our young team. After Lewa is gone there are not many veterans in our squad. Raphinha is closest to that but even he is a bit too hot headed and he often finds himself in those scrambles where he gets that unnecessary yellow because he couldn’t keep his temper.

Rodri will be a perfect leader on the field.

We almost let him go to Madrid. As someone who supports Deco and thinks he is doing a great job, I don't know what they were thinking.

Could be they somehow knew the move wouldn't go through. The same journo who broke the Rodri-Barça news also claimed he never really wanted to join Madrid and just used them to get to Barça. It could be a possibility.

Because this is the most tap-in signing for Barça this summer. A legendary Spanish midfielder coming off World Cup MVP, a leader figure to all of the young Spanish guys in Barça, a physically capable and superbly intelligent player. A proven winner.

Who knows if this deal would happen if not for FDJ injury. Very strange. Maybe they were actually scared of FDJ losing his shit or sum. Now that he's injured we can treat Rodri as temporary replacement, when we all know he is benching him long term.
