It's a great signing, that's going to be huge on the books.

I'm curious if the other Jam that always spoke big on Lewy being too much on the books for the age, ROI and no re-sale value holds Rodri to the same standards.

Yes, some will still defend Deco for starting the negotiations at the insulting 45m as 'bargaining'...
Wasted 2 weeks for no reason. An experienced director would have started this at 55 fixed plus 10, and within a couple of days would have reached final agreement

If rodri plays single pivot dm it will be olmo on 10 not pedri. Pedri better from a deeper position. Maybe rotate with frenkie for CM position and play double pivot with frenkie when rodri gets rest.
 
After watching Bernal this pre-season, I'm certainly glad we got Rodri, especially FDJ being out for god knows how long.

If the idea is to mold Bernal into a DM in the vein of Busi/Rodri he definitely needs a lot more time in the oven for that. I have confidence in the kid but you can tell he has a ways to go still.
 
People moaning about the fee don’t understand that this is a certified all time great coming to us just after balling out in a World Cup winning campaign.

He’ll take the team to a new level in terms of maturity. Great midfields win KO games.

Sign Laporte and a striker and CL is locked up
 
These are the kind of signings that take you that half step to winning the CL vs being knocked out last minute in the SF. It's the type of signing the best club in the world makes.. We are that half step away, and we need the very best to bridge the gap, someone with the experience and ability.

Sometimes you have to pay a premium to get quality. He is not finished, and he can give us minimum 2 top years, which, with his level, are enough to try and win the CL.

He will absolutely be worth it if we can build a good squad around him.
 
if the easy addons are linked to games played then it makes much more sense. If he's playing, he's worth the extra money we give

Yes. I have the same fears.
He is 30, he had ACL not too long ago.

I think his time here will probably look like:
1. One more ACL and 10 matches per season played
2. A lot of smaller injuries due to not playing for 1 year, being 30 and playing too many matches for City in EPL for several years in a row (similar to how Arda Turan was done after coming from Atletico).

Let's hope that he will stay injury free but I don't think that we are getting a player who will play 30-50 matches per year.

A huge signing on paper.
