16 - Rodri

Yeah we should have a hard stop at around 55-60M. Paying over that with 1 year left on a 30+ player would most definitely be crazy. At that point, wait for a year and take him for free. I honestly don't see us winning CL without a striker, a new RB and at least 1 top new CB. That is to say, Rodri isn't going to bring us the CL by himself.

As for the league, while he'd help us with our league chances, I think we should have enough midfield depth to win most games without Rodri - it will likely come down to us losing points in draws due to not having a striker.

Even if by some miracle, we sign a top CB and striker, we aint winning CL with Flick playing offside trap at the halfway line.

Tbf, that's the sane approach. We might get excited about stealing Rodri from Madrid, but he ain't gonna turn a corner for us vs PSG or Bayern when our attack is lacking a top striker.

And we still lacking at FBs.

Rodri turns far more of a corner against those teams than any striker we could possibly and realistically buy, let alone a defender who will struggle anyway in this system.

Rodri solidifies midfield dominance and defense both at once. In daily La Liga business, no stiker might cost us over 38 games. But in a knockout game, Lamine, Rapha, Fermin, Gordon, Adeyemi, Olmo is more than enough goal threat as long as we don't get outpassed. Which Rodri-Pedri-Olmo-Lamine certainly won't against any team.

Pointless discussion anyway. I doubt we made a deal with Rodri and stopped the Madrid deal only to leave him hanging now. They'll pay up one way or another. Might be even done already and they are just waiting for City's transfers to be made official.

-Last offer sent. 60m + 10m in variables.
-Rodri agent said he won't force move if City do t agree.
-Meanwhile City made opening 120m bid for Enzo.

By Friday Rodri could be a Barca player, or not and we move onto ... ? (Gustavo Puerta for 20m BO? @Messi983 )

What striker are we even signing now, Alvarez isn't looking likely. Galatasaray rejected a 130m bid for Osimhen.

This transfer window is something else, crazy money just moving around

Reactions: R9.
If this deal collapses because of extra 5-10m I will be absolutely fuming and it would be a huge failure on behalf of the sporting department. City works based on this, they don't really have a reason to lower the price. It's not like Barça will pull out of the deal because of extra 5m. And 80m is reasonable.

But it's not happening. Deco is just trying to get the best price but with enough time he'll give City what they want. City knows this too.

80m is too much.
Too much for a player, that immediately strengthens our entire system, makes us less counter-attack prone, gives us better control, pressing, build-up and overall stability in a system, that either thrives on it, or falls apart with stupid ball losses?

Some people don't see how much of an improvement he gives our starting line-up, completing the WC winning midfield, the best in the world. More than Adeyemi, Gordon or even Alvarez could give. It's a no brainer in my opinion, even for 80m.

I'd even prefer selling Tuna, getting him and go without a real striker into the season, trying to make a hybrid 9 work like Enrique does. Even then I see the squad stronger, provided Rodri keeps his WC form and stays injury free in the important games.

The only fear I have with Rodri is injuries. Let's fucking hope he stays fit. When Frenkie comes back Flick has to rotate. Give Bernal his minutes too.

But if he stays fit, our midfield and the team overall will be completely different - for the better.

Man City are ready to sabotage their whole season, just to make a point. By 31 August this negotiation would reach a fee of 120m and I will have another phone call with Fabrizio telling me HERE WE GO... soon.

I don't think so. This summer the inflation jumped even higher than usual, especially in England. I understand they don't want to sell him off cheaply. Best comparison is Tuna, also one year left, goes for 50m. How much should then a Ballon D'Or winner and best DM in the world go for? Without the risk of injuries and with 2-3 years of contract, City wouldn't have sold him for any fee. He's that kind of player you don't get anymore from Sheikh clubs. Thanks to special circumstances, as well as Flick's and Deco's convincing, we have a chance for him.
I'm sure the club is not stupid enough not to bring it over the line because of 5-10m.

Yeah just he already turned 30 and with the injury he had he might not be as good as people expect from him anymore.

Reality is Man City are milking out the interest. Won't be 55m + bonuses.

Barca will pay the whole demand for Rodri.

We need the here we go now. If Ferran and Rodri deals were connected this is it.

Tomorrow he trains with City. Come on, get it done. We don't want him to get injured there or some shit.
