Jacobs wrote the bid was in pounds, not in Euro. That makes €65m. It's sometimes better to double check these Indian agitator accounts.
I predicted a third bid will be accepted and I still stand by it. Around €70m + addons and Shitty will give the green light.

If Ferran the Tuna brings €55m, then the best DM in the world, winner of Ballon D'Or and captain of the WC and Euros winners is easily worth 20m more, 30 or not, prior ACL or not. I understand them not selling Rodri for a close amount Tuna will be transfering. Once Ferran will be official, Deco can close the gap with City I think.

Have some respect, Rodri won the 0-0, Tuna won the 1-0. Rodri deserves big money but I don't know how much he has in him anymore and there is no point in shitting on Ferran who had an awesome season for a bench player for Lewandowski

Something with Barca officials that make them believe the directors on the other side are idiots and can't estimate properly a player's value..

And don't start with the usual BS about bargaining.
Bargaining has to start at a reasonable price, and Deco started at 45m for a Ballon D Or winner FFS...
City didn't budge and won't budge.

We have to pay at least 60m fixed and at least 15-20m in variables.
And that's a fair price.
A sane director would start bargaining much closer to their valuation, and would have had this wrapped in 2 days..
 
No way we should pay 80m for a 30 year old with 1 year left on his contract. Deco’s doing this right imo. If man city don’t wanna meet in the middle, we should walk away. We’re not desperate for Rodri. Our biggest needs was always a cb and striker.

Dude, what are you talking about?
He is not just "a 30 year old with 1 year left"
He is the best DM on the planet the last 5 years, recent Ballon D 'Or winner, and back to back MVP for Spain's WC and Euros

Of course the price goes down with 1 year left and the age prospect, but you have to realize what is the 'normal price' for such a profile.
If he was 27 and had 2 years in his contract, he would cost at least 150m
70-80m is more than fair

No you get a grip. The only reason I loved this signing was to prevent him going to Madrid and dejong got injured. Now that’s he’s definitely not fixing Madrid’s midfield issues, I don’t care as much. 30 year old + 1 year left especially after coming back from injury and surgery is enough for us to play hardball. And midfield was always our strongest department. If man city want to be stubborn, we should stop the negotiations.

How? Who? Gavi, Casado, Bernal? That's our strongest deparment? You going for all the trophies with them? We have Pedri and that's it, all other are boarderline bench material and even that is questionable.

it was until dj got injured. i trust pedri + olmo and one of gavi and bernal can step up. Obviously we want Rodri but not enough to be so desperate to pay 80m for a 30 year old with injury problems.

I hope we are desperate enough. Looks like we have enough money since Alvarez isn't happening, prefer to have Rodri than funds in the bank or buying some mediocre player. The difference between what City wants and we offer is something like 10 million if we believe the reports, that's nothing for a billion € club. What Rodri would bring means a lot more. The injuries are the only concern but he would be 100+ without those.
 
Rodri might be the best CM for years now, DM is more debatable, there are a few contenders, Parades was better on pure stats this WC and eye test was not far from that. In prime City years I liked Stones more as DM (though I watched few games).
Let's not break the bank and be smart.

Na we shouldn't be desperate at all. cb + striker should still be the biggest priority. The Rodri signing was supposed to be convenient since its his last year but 80m just reverses that. That's a barto type of signing. If he gets reinjured, paying 80m will just look stupid in retrospect.
