Dunno what's with people saying he is finished or not at his Euro level

He is very close to that level and is performing very well. Other than that backline he is also a big reason for Spain's defensive solidity
 
He would improve us in the same way, especially defensively. He's the kinda player that would be even more important for Flicks kamikaze system than additional good CB. Cubarsi looks like great defender alongside him and Laporte, who is also physical specimen and solid.
 
Exactly, he would improve us, too. We still don't have a midfield anchor. Neither De Jong nor Pedri are defensive midfielders. We are playing Xavi-Iniesta without Busquets basically.
 
Has probably more to do with DLF being a bum coach, despite the results. A proper midfield anchor behind him should actually free Pedri up to take more risks.

We also missed Cucu IMO. Or rather, Barca can't afford. 10 times the LB that Balde is, Catalan, La Masia, NT proven. Those 2 would have solved a lot of our defensive frailties in knockout games.

We're not fucked. Madrid's DNA is nothing like Spain's. They are more like France in terms of play style. A complete anomaly of a club.

Flick should watch the World Cup because there's things in this Spain side the way they played vs France that would benefit us hugely going forward for the next seasons.

Cubarsi didn't put a foot wrong in this system and he faced some of the highest rated attackers in the world.

Rodri is old and has injury issues.

They still have the huge ego clash problem. That is gonna be hard to fix.

We should sign Rodri ourselves btw. Just the profile we lack.
 
In that Busquets vs Rodri debate i think one thing that elevates Busi is his in between the lines passing, both technically and in terms of vision, that no one ever replicated, not even Xavi. But it only works, when there are highly qualified players to receive those passes, so not every system would benefit from him equally. Rodri is a beast of DM though, wont decline as bad in his twilight years.
 
His passing is good, but not Busquets good. Otherwise he has good claim as has other abilities that are more important for well rounded DM.
 
Busquets was absolutely perfect for Pep-ball in 2008-2012. You couldn't have asked for a better DM for that team.

I feel that Rodri can fit in in any team and give a high level performance.
 
We need to be in on it. Feck Alvarez. If Rodri injury is fixed he's the best midfielder in the world.
