14 - Marcus Rashford

The other players we want to sign would fail even worse.

Rashford missed a lot of chances vs AM but to be completely fair, only the shot at start of the 1st leg was a fatal miss. Others were chances he fought well to get and, while he should have finished them, at least he got in those positions. He also hit the post from a freekick.

To me his only flaw is the lack of pressing. But we can deal with it. We already did this season. Much better than getting a backup who will press but unable to do anything on the ball when you need him.

A bigger issue for me is that Flick didn't trust him at LW over Fermin in the return leg.

Agreed that for 30m you can do worse than Rashford. But luckily for us, we have other more pressing needs than a LW. Fermin can play there no issues if we don't manage to sign anybody.

Yeah well if Flick doesn't rate him that's a different thing, we look elsewhere.

But I doubt Flick would take Abde over him, even with pressing.

You can't just "deal with it" when it comes to pressing in the modern game. We would get eaten alive by PSG if all 10 players or at least 9 players aren't pressing. Rashford is also not Mbappe, he doesn't score 40+ goals a season.

Like a another former United player, Memphis Depay, he can bang a golazo out of nowhere, but the ambition is really not there at a level high enough for Rashford to be counted on in big games.

Comparing apples to oranges there when putting Rashford and others in the same category.

Rashford is a 30m backup on enormous wages, a serious commitment for a side tight on FFP space even if back to 1:1.

For me his inability to do the basics properly, is just as annoying as his lack of pressing. Against RM for example he lost the ball a handful of times due to sloppy passes, poor first touches etc.

I don't mind our attackers losing the ball trying to take on a man, attempting a thru ball or whatever, but Rashford always causes turnovers doing simple shit, frustrating as hell to watch, and risky against good teams that can then launch proper counterattacks (unlike RM this weekend).

The only bonus with likes of Abde compared to Rashford is they would press.

But do you really exchange quality for pressing? Especially for a backup option?

Abde is better than Rashford in everything except shooting and crossing. He's better at dribbling, pressing, close control and he earns less in a year then Rashford does in a month. Decision making and linkup is shit with both. They are both not good enough for a top club of course, I don't rate Abde but would much rather have him.

Abde got pocketed by our own Hector Fort.

I dont want to hear his name as a potential LW backup. He isnt good enough.
