14 - Marcus Rashford

Rashford and Yamal are the best crossers of the ball from those wider areas Barca have.

If Rashford leaves and no 9 with physical presence/height it decreases that type of goal.

Barca have scored a lot of goals from crosses under Flick.
Hence I proposed lewa could stay in my eyes on reduced wages for one more year. Who else going to connect with those crosses?

Been mentioned by many for long enough that option but...What wages? Would have to be fairly low and cant see with options he has would go with that.

It doesnt have to be Lewa or left scratching head.

Well yeah, but Rashford is also not a starting player, he is a loan signing who we don't want to pay 30m for, and who United removed from their squad. So we aren't comparing Raphinha to him.

If we were replacing Raphinha it would probably be with a better player or we'd put more thought into it for the reason you mentioned.

Rashford is a great player but very inconsistent and low work rate.
And yet he has a better G/M than Fermin with 0.24 vs 0.21 while playing on the wing and Fermin as second striker.

I don't want us to buy him, no way - another loan would be ideal while we improve other positions. And buying/loaning a new player will always be a risk - might work out, might be shit... with Rashy we know what we get and I think he'll improve some more next season if he stays.

I think United won't have a choice if we want another loan and Rashy only wants us - seems like no other club is in for him. But if he has another season with us at least as good as this one more clubs will be after his signature since his contract runs out next summer.

Totally agree, we scored some important goals from crosses and Rashy does them best with Yamal - if we go into next season without Rashy and with a small ass 9 we're going to lose important points.

I was excited for the Rashford loan during summer and put it way ahead of bringing Nico over.

But Rashford on contract is a complete unknown for me. Just hope right decision is made.

Who do you reckon?

I don’t trust Osimhen.

Depends on who we sign... Fisnik Asllani for example is 1.91cm. Sure he doesn't move in the box as well as Lewa, but very few players have ever done tbh - Lewa is a master in that.

That dude is a relentless worker with alright technique, good movement without ball and good finishing. He's also very powerful, stays on his feet and will drag 2 players if they pull his shirt. But 90ish million is a big risk still...

Or Espi.. if want to take a risk.. 20 6ft 4, good in air, Spanish and 9 goals in just under 1000 minutes this season.

But would be an early risk.. but someone else will do it and if he is a player will be hard to get after that.

Seems hotheated a bit. Acted like complete diva with NT in africa cup.

Player opting to go to Turkey early in career is also red flag

I honestly don't know his reasons for going to Turkey... he was a little bit shafted by Napoli and than lowballed by Chelsea and transfer window was up. But if we're spending 90ish million I'd much rather go with Alvarez, simply a much better footballer overall who can help us with a lot more than scoring goals.

Alvarez also has something like 13 goals from open play in league and CL this season and most of his best work done outside of the box.

The biggest thing Barca need at CF is goals.

Alvarez could work or not…a bit indifferent about that one. But then won’t have a tall striker for the crosses

In a team that already lacks height all across the pitch.

There wouldnt be that AM type crashing box as a target either.

Thing to consider is his first season and wanting to impress/prove his doubters wrong wore off a bit already and won't be back in force next season.

In normal times, when the club has money, he is worth 30m and a good wage even for his output in the league, and as a sub in bigger games. A player like Rashford from the bench can be an asset in winning league titles. Now, it's just too low of an impact when we have bigger fish to fry.

What should Barca do with LW next season?

He could easily finish the season with 30 goals/assists and most of them been important. Not sure how can class that as 'low impact'.

Has stepped up massively to help cover Raphinha this season or even Yamal v Newcastle and in last game away to Osasuna.

30m is too much with other positions to improve. Option is to renegotiate but United will refuse.

Best for all parties would be another loan and to keep the clause at 30m. Means United will get their money sooner or later.
That unless United can find another buyer this summer and Rashford will accept to leave for that club.

He did well, especially since first season outside of England. Completely new system.
We all know they dont play football there.
Hes had to learn everything.

If he leaves, lets hope he leaves with happy memories and celebrates the title.

Hence I want us to go for Sorloth. Atleast he will be a target man for them Yamal Crosses.

We will be wasting Yamal's best attributes if we dont look for ST with a good head.
