14 - Marcus Rashford

Let's hope what I see posted in Sport and MD is pure rubbish in terms of rumors. Bastoni, signing Rashford. These two are sackable offenses for Deco if that's his actual plan. It means he is clueless.

Yeah ideally a Barca player consistently scores in these type of situations. But it is what it is.

Imagine how lethal we'd be if Rashy and Ferran scored them consistently tho. Damn!

Very frustrating miss against AM.

Rapha also doesn't score consistently, but at least he has a huge value in pressing, recovering the ball, stopping attacks. He runs for 2 players. If Ferran and Rashford don't score, they appear like frauds because they don't have any other value.

Raphinha's end product in CL knockout phase is unreal though.

- 1 assist vs Napoli in 2023/24, Last 16
- 3 goals vs PSG in 2023/24, QF
- 3 goals vs Benfica in 2024/25, Last 16
- 1 goal, 2 assists vs Dortmund, 2024/25, QF
- 2 goals vs Inter, 2024/25 SF (I consider the shot vs Inter in the home leg a goal).
- 2 goals, 3 assists vs Newcastle, 2025/26, Last 16 (I counted the pen vs Newcastle as an assist).

You have 11 games, 17 goals & assists, that's a staggering over 1.5 G&A per knockout game played. Must be by far the best in the team. Not a tie has been played in CL in the last 3 years without Raphinha having a direct impact on it with goals and/or assists. Except this one, which he missed due to injury.

In the last 10 CL knockout games he played, we had around 3 goals per tie in the bag thanks to him playing. That's a massive impact to replace before we even go into details about pressing, defensive work-rate, runs to make space for teammates and drag defenders around and everything else.

Still a miracle what Flick has achieved with this squad. I don't believe he's even had one actual transfer of his own since he arrived.

Yeah whenever Rapha misses a stretch of games, I see it as a bad omen because we tend to drop points when he's unavailable.

Thing about Ferran is that he's so inconsistent that his nicknames alternate between Shark and Tuna. But when he's in form, he's more than capable as we've seen this season with 16 goals so far. Not too long ago, his name was even The Shark on here. But like you said, when he's inconsistent or misses sitters (and doesn't contribute by tracking back or fails to press the way Rapha does), it affects our season.

Either way, Ferran and Rashy need to score these type of chances. Very frustrating.

Good thing to point out. Most of Flick's critics never mention this fact. Show me Pep, Enrique or Klopp how they perform without getting the players they wish for.
Yeah There's always that one flat earther, but overall, I think it's even become evident to Xavi's disciples now what a wonderful manager Flick is.

He showed why he has been loaned out by the likes of United.

Another one who is weak mentally. He could have had 4 more chances and he would missed them all. Even the offside goal from the Yamal cross, a tap in with a wide open goal, he nearly hit the goalkeeper who was helpless on the far post.

And he is actually in form, relatively speaking. Just crushed by the pressure of the big lights.

I didn't initially mind his signing as I thought his pace, that our team lacks, would benefit when attacking space. But boy I didn't know his finishing is F grade level. Add to that his inability to beat his man and lack of work rate, I see no upside in keeping him. His long range belters are also few and far between. Its infuriating to see him run with the ball into the box and then lose it because he can't get past his man or can't hit the ball on target. I'd rather invest the 30 M and his high wages in buying youngsters like Schjelderup or Diomande.

He suffers from the Ferran syndrome. Started decently, only to keep falling in form. I'm sure he'll return in the summer back to United. We won't blow 30m of our transfer budget for him and weigh down our salary cap by 15-18m for this kind of performance. If he doesn't contribute in pressing oder building up, he should at least score consistently, but we all saw the last game.
The only chance I see is to ask for another loan, but according to reports United refuses, which is also understandable. Some mid-table PL club or Saudis will buy him in the summer, while we should look for another LW backup.
