11 - Raphinha

you should go to summer of 2024 and see how many were ready to sell him off and make space for nico williams.

Been critical of raphinha but I was’t one of them. Said I’d prefer him to stay under Flick and keep nico away as far as possible.

I remember you advocating Nico and saying how unselfish he was.

Have been the only consistent supporters of raphinha on this forum.

Only these 4 people are allowed to talk anything slightly negative about him.

Everyone else is a bandwagonist. Lol
What are you on about

I always supported Raphinha but the only time I recall where I was very disappointed with his performance was the game against Bilbao in March 2024, I remember we had a very good chance to cut the difference with Madrid, and the performance he gave out that day, was very shambolic to say the least. He did absolutely nothing and that was one of the worst performances that I ever saw by any Barcelona player. But thankfully, from then onwards, he was only going upwards.

it’s incredible, if he keeps this up and we are lucky enough to win a CL or two, he will be the most decorated Brazilian attacker in this club’s history, both trophies and G+A-wise.

Already a bigger legend than Neysnake in my book.

Maybe too far there, once the CL comes I can confirm that but for now, not yet.

Why is there a need to disrespect past legends when new legend is on the rise ?

You can also make an argument he surpassed Romario already, in fact that's not a very controversial take

If we get a "CL or two" you can absolutely say he surpassed Dinho and Rivaldo as well. But why? It's disrespectful in my opinion

We can just put him among these players and that's definitely a huge honor. Especially when we consider that he, realistically, is not on the level of those 4

All of these contributed in their own way in their time. Dinho kickstarted a glorious era. Ney made history as part of MSN and winning the treble while working his ass off. Left with the most expensive transfer of all time, giving us room to improve the team. And if we had a smart board, we would

Rivaldo also carried us for nearly all of the dark ages (1999-2003) alongside winning us 2 LaLiga titles in a row between 1997-98 and 1998-99. Shame that Van Gaal and him could not get along which caused the club to implode in 1999-2000.

Ronaldo was also very good for us where he had his best ever season, it was a shame he went to play for Brazil at that friendly tournament in June 1997, we could've won LaLiga but unfortunately we didn't. He was mismanaged by his agents and then left for Inter that summer.

You guys consider Figo a Barca legend too?
No, but Neymar didn't leave us for Madrid and was not a vice-captain. It is not like there was a rivalry between us and PSG back in 2017, by that point we spanked them out of the UCL 3 times in the past 5 seasons.

I think the Brasilian eras are all unique and for me began with Rivaldo but equally Ronaldinho's era came during significant downturns in the club's fortunes

Different times and circumstances. Van Gaal forced Rivaldo to be glued to touchline most of the times. Very rigid structure compared to what we have now.

He still scored more than hundred goals and I can only wonder how much he would score if he was given more freedom.

Rapha is a harder worker definitely.

Rapha still has this and next season to match 5 years of Rivaldo at Barca.

We have so many players + Flick deservedly in need of a CL. Hope we can win it soon so all these players can cement their legacies properly.
