11 - Raphinha

Isn't it interesting how all these 'friends' and seventh cousins of Raphinha come out to 'deny' the news of him going to Saudi Arabia etc?

This guy has a huge entourage full of people and distant relatives who are probably all taking their cut from him. I bet none of them even know what's going on.

Raphinha had mentioned before that going to Saudi would solve things for his family. And with this, clearly his current salary might not be enough to support whoever he is taking care of...

Guys remember our financial problems and their financial problems is not the same

My financial problems is when I have to choose between going out and eating fried eggs to the next month

Raphinha's financial problems is when he has to choose between a summer in Mallorca on trilion dollar yacht and a slightly shaked bank account that would last until his next salary

Probably. Do you remember the very talented Oscar? He went to China in his peak because of similar reasons.

Also a good point. You need a lot of money to maintain that lifestyle for lifetime. A football career is ridiculously short and unreliable. 1 ACL and you could be done at the top level.

Yeah, one of the best players for Chelsea.. I didn't know the detail that he also had a huge extended family to take care of but unsurprising.

Apparently for Brazilian footballers that is more common, or wealthy Brazilian people in general, that they take care of very extended families.

If he is supporting 50 people in Brazil or something, or more, then you can see why Saudi money might fix things for him.

In the Brazilian favelas, Football is essentially your only way out of poverty, crime and a lifetime of misery.

There are some very insightful documentaries on this topic. Puts a lot into perspective.

Most of the famous Brazillian ballers come from poverty.

Man, my violin is incredibly small with this one. How much money does it take to help out your friends from the favels? 1,000 euros a month is a fortune over there, so that leaves poor Raph with only around a million euros a month for himself to live on after he's gifted away 50k a month to family and friends 😢

Whatever way you slice and dice it, the numbers are never going to match up. And the running costs of living that lifestyle are incredibly exaggerated as well. Raph can live like a king all year for 2 weeks of his wages . That is the truth.

I ain't gonna hate on him for going for the money, as I don't with any player, but you are never going to get me to shed a tear for his bank balance.

Crazy how 1 season of 65 G + A absolutely took his soul (granted his defensive workrate in this season was enormous).

Messi has averaged 65 G + A over the past 20 (TWENTY) years. While dealing with a mountain range of expectations and pressure to deliver.

Stop with Oscar bro, never seen a guy who wasted more his career than this guy. Fantastic goal from him vs Germany in that 1-7 defeat and a very promising player, i wonder what happen in your head that you choose to go to China in that young age.

Well there's Hulk but I guess banging your ex's niece is a bigger achievement than winning the CL......

Hulk to zenit is a good comparison but oscar was level higher in terms of talent, i remember when media said this transfer will really happen and the football world was shocked, it just made no sense

For me it is a red flag that all these nobodies come out of the woodwork to 'deny' rumours about him or accompany him here or there etc.

If Raphinha wants to deny something let him say it himself.

Just seems like he hasn't closed the door to moving and being intentionally vague for that reason.

Barca knew something was coming that is why they jumped on the next Raphinha day 1. I think they always knew Raphinha would be shipped out. Now the media is reporting stories to facilitate the move.

Raphinha will leave to Al Hilal and in return we will replace him with Gordon and Cancelo at LB. This transfer should in theory give enough money to then drop the 130m+ for Julian

Hopefully he does us a solid and gets a 90 million offer from Saudi...doubt it but stranger things have come true.

Yeah, it is weird we spend 80mil on o player that should be sub.

I mean, Gordon is not close to Rapha, but hope so we will have better player at CB and ST position so his influence would be reduced on other way.

Just hope so we are reasdy in terms of money to act quick.

Loaning again Rashford makes now a lot of sense.

So we are going to try and sell Raphinha for 80 mil to Al Hilal to fund the Alvarez deal , get Rashford back to be a sub for Gordon.

Can also someone aware me what injury did Raphinha suffer and also , does his problems with money come from some sort of gambling addiction ?
