10 - Lamine Yamal

Raya was the best itw this season

Backed up by data too

Clearly had a better season than Donnarumma and Courtois

Arsenal's best player
He had a better season so he is better than those 2?

Ok, didn't know it works this way

This contradicts the logic behind your belief that Mbappe is best in the world. At least 10 players had a better season than he did

Is he better than Courtois or Alisson overall? Not even close.

BUT
He's the best there is at this moment. This isn't Peak Courtois/Alisson.

His individual brilliance saved Arsenal many times this season.

Anyways, he's much better than Simon regardless which is what matters.

This contradicts the logic behind your belief that Mbappe is best in the world. At least 10 players had a better season than he did
False. And even at this moment if you want recency, Mbappe is arguably the best player at this WC as we speak.

How is it false? Mbappe went trophyless and for the most part performed shit in last 2 seasons. Excluding second half of 24/25 and first half of 25/26. And this World Cup.

So if you call him best in the world the only way you can make that argument is if you argue that his specific abilities are better than any other player on the world. Which we also know is not true, but the only plausible explanation.

And if he judge these specific abilities for rating footballers the best GK would be Courtois. He is not in his prime but he is absolutely still in shape and contributes for club and country on regular.

Again, this is straying off topic. We both agree Raya is much better than Simon.

The problem with Simon is not that he's bad shot stopper, but often goes full retard, at least playing for Spain. Very bad in big tournament, where every game is crucial.

Mbappe has made a big statement so far at this World Cup. You cannot make the argument but he was poor before this. This is the biggest event in the sport.

Yes he plays in a France team that is by far the best, player for player, vs any opposition, and this helps his game. But... still, he outshone Dembele without much issues, and even Olise imo.

This World Cup by Mbappe is far better than the 2018 one imo.

I didn't expect him to do this. I thought his poor form and questionable attitude would carry over here in this tournament, but he looks a different kind of beast. I guess it is proof that form is temporary, class is permanent. He showed up to prove everyone he's still the best. And he probably is.

And let's not pretend he didn't score for fun in Madrid also. His numbers in Clasicos for example aren't bad in the slightest. Constantly a pain in the ass to block.

It's hard to deny that Mbappe is the world's best or, if you prefer, most skilled player. This was evident before the World Cup despite the poor club form and team cohesion.
Is he the best dribbler? No.
Is he the best technician? No.
Is he the best chance creator? No.
Is he the best passer of the ball? No.
Is he the best with box movement? No.

Is he the fastest? Yes.
Is he the best at finishing? Yes.

Is he the most skilled? Conclusion, no.

Yet you were quick to forget (probably not know) Ruiz's history of work to justify panda over him.

What's the point of this post? We, like, know this goal quite well. Is this damage control for your retardation/trolling in other thread?

True. I'll explain this in detail without bias. So let me land before jumping to conclusions and calling me a "troll".

Is Mbappe the most skillful and naturally gifted player in the world? Not necessarily but we all agree that he's very gifted and skillful.

Is Mbappe the fastest player in the world with and without the ball? Probably.

Now here's the thing: Mbappe might not be the most talented player ever but his skillset and attributes are far more useful in deciding games than many players who are considered more gifted, skillful and elegant.

When you take Mbappe's skill and end product and combine it with his explosive pace, incredible acceleration over the first few steps, strength and power he becomes nearly unstoppable on his day. That rare combination of physical, technical and mental attributes makes Mbappe scary. You can't kick him out of a game or outmuscle/foul him out of a game. If Mbappe is on fire, you probably can't stop him.

On a higher level, Messi (technique plus acceleration and durability) and Ronaldo (ball striking plus pace and movement) married technical, physical and mental attributes at the highest level which made them unplayable in their pomp.

I'll give another example at a lower level:

Over a full season Pedri gives you better/more consistent performances than Pogba week in week out but in a one off game/final when Pogba is on form - he's far more unstoppable because of his physical gifts, ball striking ability and passing range.

There are players who have a better relationship with the ball than Mbappe but aren't nearly as scary or unstoppable in a real game. Try to understand the difference.

Is he the best at finishing? Yes.
He isn't. Messi and Kane are the best and the most clinical finishers of this era/generation by far. They are both better pure finishers than Ronaldo.

Mbappe and Haaland are at a similar level in terms of pure finishing. Note that finishing and goalscoring are different skills despite having considerable overlap. Haaland is probably the best goalscorer in the world these days.

Mbappe is more clutch than Kane and Haaland though. When it matters the most, Mbappe is likelier to convert.

There's a difference between goalscorer and finisher. Finishing is just one part of goalscoring.

CR7 is probably the greatest goalscorer ever.

Hmmm ok i understand what you mean

Kane is a valid argument but ppl wont acknowldge his legacy without big title

Anyways, its off topic so if you want to add sth do it in cr thread
