Yeah, it’s usually Madrid and CR7 fans who make it a thing. They’re probably too busy crying right now to even talk shit. Yamal will get the better of him one day.

Mendes is the complete package. He is as good offensively as he is defensively.

Like it or not he is getting there and by the time he retires could be in those convos. Already won 2 CLs and no winger really had the better of him over 90 minutes yet.
 
He didn't have a good match from my POV, first sub-Yamal level standard of a match during the WC yet still created opportunities in spite of Portugal overloaded on his side for most of the match. This is because Nico has been a crock and Baena is simply not a true winger that can prevent opponents cheating to Lamine's side. Still, I thought both him & Pedri were far below their normal level - wouldn't be surprised if they were carrying illnesses it was that shocking

Thought Olmo was tremendous and apart from Torres' brainless action that resulted in that final fk was a huge factor with much better movement than Oyarzabal had throughout. I thought It was far from a 5 star Spanish performance and while I still think they can win it all, if they don't it will be down to that imbalance with a toothless left flank

What a goal though, loved the return ball from Ferran Torres to Merino - cut them open with a simple give and go

For Portugal, CR's Intl career should be over which I wonder if it is linked to Martinez stepping down with NT forcing CR on him. Still, I thought he got the subs wrong - of course still paid for having CR in the XI

Didn't do much against Semedo either. Olise has an overall better season than him.
That being said, he suffers from playing with bums. Put him in the France or PSG side and he'll look much better.

He needs to master the position between 9,10 and 11 and switch during different phases of game and be elite at all of those positions. He is not Messi. He never will be. He doesn’t have the pace to be an out and out 11 for 5-10 years. Thats why he needs to be a master of playing those 3 positions in a game. When to be behind the striker, when to be one and when to be on the wings. He has potential to be the best second-striker of all time and thats why we need massive pace and quality on both wings and an elite striker upfront. Lets see how he evolves his game. Plenty of time to mature and be a pure no 10 but you can’t get away without doing dirty work off-the-ball in midfield and central position anymore.
 
He's definitely still carrying a knock, can tell by him not running unless absolutely necessary and even then it's not all out.

If Spain with this WC with a injured yamal and 3 others wingers also being injured more seriously.

He was a GOAT 17. But he is nowhere near a GOAT 18 and Mbappe had a far better and impactful world cup than him at the same age. He can’t hide behind his age anymore. Needs to seriously steup up from here on.

Doesn’t matter. Yamal hasn’t performed in any way in this worldcup. His 18’s has gone downhill from his 17’s. Mbappe won the worldcup around his age being the best young player of the tournament. Yamal needs to step up to take Spain to the glory. Euro is no worldcup. Ask Greece and Ronaldo.

Nuno Mendes is the best (and pretty young too!) yet he relied on the help of a teammate all game. There were always two players covering Lamine which only shows the respect coaches have of him when they use an additional player to stop him. The time they failed to do so was also the time when Lamine got past Mendes and more so the action where Mendes got injured.

Lamine himself is visibly not on 100% and has it even harder because he gets covered more since the only danger from the other wing comes through Cucu, not Baena.
