Barca history is filled with arrogance, flamboyant characters buddy.
Puyol was a captain he does not count.
Iniesta messi are exceptions.

For cules, it's not all envy, there's also cultural identity (the Catalan seny embodied by Puyol) so fans surely fear the Neymar-style bravado because they've seen flashy stars burn out far too soon

Football has a ruthless lie detector—performance. If Yamal delivers goals, trophies, and consistency, cules will forgive the flash. He's showing enough grounding (simple play, no petulance) to suggest his bravado is youthful exuberance, not a fatal flaw. Only his play will ultimately decide but to insist or project your own bias on how a player should be is culturally myopic and nothing to do with football

I think himself does the latter (that's why some people argue he should hold his mouth) and his fans who think he is the best and bashing youngsters to improve is a cultural thing in all successful societies. We aren't all Yanks from Hollywood to choose our gender at age 30. By age 30 his prime career is over. If you really think this is bad for him you are from a collapsing society.

It is cultural myopic, I think it's fair, but it wasn't framed as that. Maybe our culture is bad. I argue it is the best, after settling in proper Europe we crushed every attempt against our lands for 3000 years and conquered all the world before English and French got lazi and got Trojan Horsed to cash crop. Before that we almost got extincted by Turks, Syrians and Arabs after the Romans got Trojan Horsed.
So maybe he should follow our culture and the culture of the academy not the Yank culture that produces nothing. And you lot should stop teaching us how kids should be dealt with especially in a period where we are Trojan Horsed again. We expect him to be perfect, he is from La Masia.

Puyol’s no nonsense character has not been part of our identity for a long time now. we’re serial chokers who freeze up in champions league big games. Our defenders get red cards like it’s nothing the second they receive any kind of pressure. Nothing “no nonsense” about that. I would argue Lamine embodies Puyol’s fighting spirit than anyone in our squad other than raphina (who threw away out champions league ambitions for a friendly)
 
Far from his best which also applies to every star player on the field today. Entertainment wise pretty boring game despite the hype. No big drama, kid keeps winning.
 
Starting to look like he's either losing some of his sharpness or defenders are getting better at reading him on 1 V 1, and it's not just this game. He's still very smart and throws good passes

Those challenges are pretty unnecessary most of the time when he can just play ball into box when all eyes from Portugal are on him expecting him to make the risky challenge. Much rather see him finding those spaces like he did today 2-3 times instead trying to force himself past couple of players marking him, especially now when his acceleration is clearly not 100%.
 
Pfft, I don't care what he does for Spain. What I care about is what he did for Barca and I know what my eyes saw last season and what they saw was THE BEST PLAYER IN THE WORLD CARRYING US TO THE TITLE AT 18 YEARS OF AGE.

We saw Barca without Lamine at the end of the season, or maybe a lot of us didn't, as we were borderline unwatchable without him.

Some people think Flickball is the special sauce, but for me it's still Lamine. We depend on him entirely. :shark:
 
The Mendes memes will live on for now. Biggest game of his career so far and he didn’t turn up. At least he is still young and his team managed to do the job we all needed them to do. End Penaldo’s international career.

The mendes "memes" only idiots make

Mendes-Yamal duels are an even contest and both have had their say in different games. Yamal also got past Mendes in this game once, where he made him injure himself

It's a contest of two all timers, potentially GOAT tier footballers, in their respective positions

Whoever expects Yamal, or any other footballer, to blitz past Mendes and make him suffer continuously over 90 minutes is a complete moron
