10 - Lamine Yamal

Raphinha: “I’m not Lamine Yamal..

I feel comfortable playing on the right wing but people shouldn’t expect me to be Yamal..

Lamine is a star. As always, I’ll give my absolute best in any position I play but please, don’t expect from me what you expect from Lamine.”
Humble and down to earth response from Rapha.

If you see him for what he is, there's no need to compare him to Lamine. He brings something unique to the table, and that's what it is all about in a team.

Add to that being the best players at the euros.

He's two cups away from competing football
Is it fair to say though that to be considered amongst the greatest, he would probably need at least a couple CL's and other trophy repeats in his cabinet.

That is to say, even if he tasted victory in all competitions, he would still need to show a level of sustained greatness (and success) throughout his career - to really carve his place in footballing heaven. Seems like the standard for legendary status achieved by the likes of Ronaldo, Leo, Iniesta, Xavi. Several trophies both in club and country.

He has the talent, but will he have the hunger and focus, and hopefully the right team beside him.

He's just had to adapt because he wasn't good enough in his original position, nothing remarkable.
Just like Kounde and Gerard Martin for example.
A player makes a name for himself in the most broadcast league in the world in one specific position and adapting to a completely different one is unremarkable? That’s a pretty ridiculous statement to make

Sliding over from FB or CB on same side of pitch does not equate to switching flanks as a winger who established themself on one side. Else RM would be experiencing fewer remarkable events on/off pitch

Raphinha’s career at RW died with emergence of Lamine, he switches over there occasionally during matches but strictly playing as a RW is over for him at Barça - even he knows it. And again that is no small feat for someone so influential to become so in a position opposite to where he was historically successful is truly reinventing yourself. Rare to see it in the modern game

Flick is right, better stay out of sensible politics subjects if you're a kid, and focus on football. You need a hard stomach if you go in the kitchen and see how the sausages are made.

Such an annoying kid, luckily he's our player.
