keane is right, though. Ferguson hanging around (like Busby and Shankly did in yesterday's times) is a huge weight around their neck.

Darren Fletcher said the first thing he did when he got the interim job is talk to Ferguson to get his approval, as he doesn't like to make decisions without consulting him first. This is a 41-year-old-man. He wants to sound respectful and full of admiration but he just comes across as a spineless sycophant. They hold Ferguson up as God over there, it's proper creepy.

We have to consider though that Sir Alex was the last coach who kept Manu on top level. Guy could have won CL in 12/13 if Cristiano and Modric didnt destroy his team. The massive drop in 13/14 under Moyes was umbelievable.

He was a top coach but the sheer arse-licking of him by his former players, saying 'what would Sir Alex do' the fans and players acting like he is God and never gets anything wrong and is infallible. Him constantly showing up at games despite being 84.

They need to tell him to back off a bit. It sounds morbid but when he dies it will actually probably be even worse - mark my words, every victory will be 'we did it in Sir Alex's honour', minute's silences every month, nationwide mourning like when the Queen died.

The power and influence that bullying cunt of a man wielded over English football is baffling to a guy like me, because I don't respect him at all.

Bro's tactical knowledge was extremely underwhelming for a manager of his stature.

I wouldn't say he was overrated because he was excellent at squad building/rebuilding, man management and task delegation but his tactical knowledge was extremely basic.

His style of play was pretty ordinary. Sure some of their wing play and counter attacks were fun to watch (Tevez Rooney Ronaldo as a fluid front 3 were electric to watch) but the overall style of play wasn't anything memorable like Wengerball.

He was never a tactical genius like Pep or Jose who were 2 of the best tacticians in history (representing the 2 completely different philosophies of the game). Credit to him that he recognised his shortcomings and delegated stuff accordingly. Great self awareness there. 👍🏻

Yeah i understand what you mean, just explained why his value is still so high there. Good old man though, i wonder what he feels to watch Manu these days...

Well when people say he is the GOAT manager they think as in the manager with greatest legacy

And that he probably is. He built one of biggest European clubs from bottom to top. And then they went to bottom after he left

But as a tactical mind I think there is no doubt we have quite a few managers better than him

Yeah I know Tempt isn't talking to me and probably not even reading my posts, but he does make some good ones and that one above about Ferguson's strengths and weaknesses I fully agree with.

Yes. He stayed there a long time and won a lot, rebuilt teams (though his CL record is underwhelming), but it wasn't down to tactics. For a long time the PL was much worse tactically than European leagues and he never really overcame that.

He actually was on the verge of being sacked before the 1990 FA Cup Final. Things might have been so different.

He also did very well at Aberdeen which must be acknowledged. But I find it weird that the same weakness people exploit in Messi (never succeeded at club level outside Spain) can be levelled at Ferguson, Best, Scholes, Giggs etc in britain. Yet they get away with it and nobody downplays their legacies. Maybe it's because (with the other players at least) they're not on a GOAT level so they are picked apart less.

Seeing Man City fans shit on Tijjani Reijnders, on their Blue Moon forum is kinda funny.

The way they describe him is basically the Dutch Paulinho.

Disagree with the GOAT manager thing.

Depends on the category.

Longevity: Ferguson Ancelotti

Prime: Mourinho Guardiola

Influence: Cruyff Herrera

I'm taking peak Mourinho or Guardiola (depending on the philosophy of my Football club) anyday over Peak Ferguson.

Spoiled idiots

He scored some world class goals for them already and had very good performances. And of course it will take him time to adapt properly

But their oil minds want perfect game from every outfield player else you are getting replaced with a new shiny toy. A club with no identity. Even their homegrown boys like Foden are not free from this and they become bench warmers after one tough season

I hope he leaves City, was a shit decision joining them in the first place
