it looks to me the players are also frustrated with the way he wanst to play. running them to the ground pressing, only to get smacked (as expexted) by a good one touch diaginal pass or a second run after the tra... same story like last season only gotten worse. this pass is inevitable and non definablele except if you press with 11 players at full speed all game.
Exactly. This whole system is a joke. I said it right from the beginning. You need balance between the lines. Flick doesnt know how to implement this. Fact. What is even worse, everybody sees we dont have the players for insane pressing and slow centerbacks yet he keeps doing the same shit all day long letting even bad opponents score goals for fun. Man has no clue how to set up a team by adapting tactics to the players he has.

There is no benefit for why you'd have your defensive players pressing the other team's defenders. Not when your attackers are closer and would need to run far less to press those players.

I have never seen this being done as often by any of our previous managers. The more defensive oriented players get involved in pressing only after first wave is triggered and does its job. As the opposing defenders are pressed by your attackers, the midfielders of the team being pressed try to show up for pass, and then yes, Frenkie and Pedri go with them in pressing. But Pedri, Frenkie, Balde constantly go chasing defenders while leaving huge spaces in midfield.

It's completely retarded and illogic. This is not even man for man press. The willingness of a player to press, his energy, this is largely irrelevant. Position impacts who is in the position to press X or Y opponent. If the player in best position to press doesn't do it and other more willing teammate has to compensate, you're already toast. This will happen again and again, and it's just a matter of finding brave enough teams to try and take advantage of such chaotic approach.

I don’t think I’ve seen a more retarded defense than this lmao!

Flick’s football isn’t doing them any favors but what a steaming pile of horse turd these defenders are.

Only at this club could letting a 33 year old CB (who was never even world class) leave to Arabia on a free cause a total defensively collapse across all fronts.

Fix it. Fucking Benny Hill defending.

No one is fixing it.

Worse case scenario.

You have a manager who has a philosophy of ultra attacking football and you have a bunch of retarded defenders who have no idea how to defend.

It’s not all Flick’s fault tho.

People have short memories here. These are the same defenders who drive Xavi to mental breakdowns on the sideline and he was more of a defensive minded manager than most.

Yes it’s easier to replace the coach than the entire defence, but it’s hilarious to think think that any other manager is going to give Araujo brain or make Kounde and Balde not control the ball like they have down syndrome.

Don't know about you guys, I respect this

People who say "he doesn't know anything else". Remember last season Supercopa final. Red Card for Tek and then we defended perfectly for like 30 minutes. Benfica away in UCL ro16. Early red for Cubarsi, defended properly whole game. But we were forced to

He's just a madman. He sticks to his philosophy and is not giving it up. Maybe for the better, we will see. I have not lost faith in us turning this season around

His CBs at the WC.

Isn't Nico Schlotterbeck there is a trend about us signing recently, because he's a missing link in the defense?.

It worked great for flick with Germany.

That's pretty much CB partnership of his dreams, big, fast, good passing, still didn't help lol

This season is already compromised. La liga and UCL are far from us. We should try to build a team for next season. Casado, fdj, Rashford, Lewanflopski, to name just few should leave. They should not make permanent Rashford, but , as things were happened in the past with the management of this team, I would not be surprised at all if they give him a lot of money and make him permanent…. It would be just in the nite of stupidity what happened to this team for years…

That's true. But our club not being able to acknowledge the importance of Inigo Martinez, his skills and leadership of the backline and let him walk to Saudi as easy as they did is the biggest culprit IMO. Still baffles me.

It's clear that Flick is an offensive minded coach. And if you have one, you need a strong leader of defense. Van Dijk was that with Klopp and Inigo was that with Flick last year. We let him walk and the level of the defense dropped so much, that Eric Fucking Garcia is one of the better CB's at the club.

The second thing that is also alarming is the workrate of front 4. There has been a massive gap between the two CM's and the attackers (including CAM), because none of them drop back to get the ball or help to defend. That's why we got shafted by otherwise (for their standard) a pretty bad RM midfield.

We need an experienced CB, who can lead the defense. If we can't get one in winter, this season is a write off.
