11 - Raphinha

We need him badly. Rashford is actually pretty great but seems like Lamine drops a level without Raphinha/Lewa playing.

If we instantly play better when he is back then he is truly world class for me and last season was not a one off. That is what world class means, improving the team in bad periods also, not just playing well when everything is smooth sailing.

That being said I read he said not winning the BD was a personal letdown for him. How can you win BD when you got knocked out by Inter and other players smashed that Inter 5 goals to nothing. Are these guys serious?

Just shut the fuck up about the BD.

Raphinha is recovering well from his injury, and it's not ruled out that he could travel to Vigo on Sunday. @sport

Went well last time :mou:

Hansi said he was surprised about Pedri's injury and felt he was giving himself the fault for not resting him enough so dont think he would make that kind of mistake again and rush players too fast back. If Raphi comes back he is really fit 💯

Is it crazy to say: Raphinha is the lungs of Barca?

Raphinha is like other 5-10 players in the world with sub-prime talent but who is a consumate professional, and extremely ambitious about his professional life. The most physical leagues have several candidates of his profile. He was great, but is not that special of a player.

Barca is a complicated club. Half the time or worse we are run poorly but every once in a while, not too often, our model produces that special something that even the elite versions of other clubs lack. A great Barcelona is the total package of football, all great things wrapped in the same product. No other club can do this at that level.

A player like Raphinha stands out as one of the best if not the best in an average or sub-optimal Barca cycle, but in a great one, he is a bench player. He appears greater because the majority of the players he plays with currently are overrated or pampered kids. Or budget-friendly signings.

Almost all conventional top players are cut from Raphinha's cloth though. He is not unique in his qualities, but neither in his flaws or limitations. More Raphinhas in your squad is simply a consequence of good management in average or non-elite eras. Almost every team needs at least 2-3 valuable members of the squad that share Raphinha qualities and temperament. He is the perfect player to show the incompetent leadership this club had. One Raphinha next to Messi in his later years, and Messi would have had at least 2 CLs to his name. Messi would have loved him to bits.

How many of these average footballers you mention got 60 scorers in one season at least one time in their career, in an average sub-optimal teams with so called overrated players? I'm curious to see if you can name one; you should be able to, otherwise your theory is wrong.

He'll improve the team when he returns but he isn't going to save the squad this season.

Barca has the worst backline of any top team in Europe. It's going to cost the team this season, with or without Raphinha.
