24 - Eric García

I don't know if he is the long term solution (hell, I never really thought Kounde was either) but I think it warrants giving Kounde a go back at CB under Flick now.

It's something we should have tested pre-season, but with OutIGo gone, we need to look for more solutions than Martin.

Clear tactic to use him to pass long and early from back and Rayo were on to him.

Some terrible give aways and looked like he may have been at fault for the goal as followed ball but would need to see it again.

He is fucking unreal at tracking ball into opponents box at set pieces though and could have scored a few tonight from that.

No idea why Flick tried this. Like he underestimated Rayo and went to satisfy his curiosity. But we have very numerous evidence that Eric is not good enough as centreback. He performs well on RB, stick to it no need to change.

Cubarsi is better at that though from the right side but hasn't had the chance to do with being on the left and baby sitting Araujo in possession.

Surprised dropped both centres.

We lost Eric as a outlet from the right too. Kounde was poor on the ball all game long and knocking easy balls to Rayo.

Have to look at the replay with the goal, but did not understand why he left his man all alone to squeeze in the middle when the pass was not really on to the guy he took under marking.

You don't do that unless it's to block an imminent danger.

No he had to come inside and cover the more dangerous run there.

Was correct there.

Gonna watch a replay. Could be. Then it's just a well taken action by Newcastle with some good first touch passes.

He did there were two men and the more dangerous pass was the one he moved towards.

Fermin not helping track back at all there but they were pushing up so not all his fault either.

Was Gordon offside initially and this is why he had the upper hand on Kounde by some chance? Or simply got there faster on an equal race to the cross?
