Dumfries is a very good player, definitely much better than his price tag suggests and is a market opportunity that will last only for 10 more days. Furthermore, missing a decent full back backups last season costed us big time against Inter.

Regarding LB position, if Jofre Torrents can be a decent backup for Balde, like some are reporting, than we are gonna be fine. People need to understand that there are currently no market opportunities for LB position and for RB there are, so we should act accordingly.

There is not a single LB on the market that would significantly improve our squad while Dumfries definitely would. Furthermore, Kounde can always switch back to CB position. On the left side we have Balde, a natural fullback, who could become a world class LB If he can finally stay injury-free this season. It's not like we have no one on that left side.

Garcia is jack of all trades and master of none. He can't be trusted to be a permanent backup for one position. He is an all around we can throw as the last resort if no one else or we can give him few minutes here and there. If he plays regularly his cracks would start to show.

That's his best role. Give him minutes playing multiple different positions here and there, that's when he is used the best.

Tell me one fullback on the market that represents a better deal than Dumfries for 25 mil? To clarify this, I am not implaying we should bench Kounde for this guy I am just saying that we need depth in that position if we plan to compete on all fronts.

His clause is time limited so it's now or never.

What we can do with the money.
- Sign a LB, transfer window still open 5 weeks. Options might come up.
- Don't sign anyone if no good options available, sign someone in January or next season instead.

Balde is a world class potential who should be a stating LB for years to come. On the other side, Grimaldo is a 29y old LB who is also a Spanish NT player. I am not sure this would be a good idea as one of them would be hugely unhappy on the bench. Furthermore, Balde, if he stays injury free, for sure has a higher ceiling than Grimaldo. I personally would not go for Grimaldo, I'd rather search for a LB backup in La Masia. Ideally we should have a reliable full back backup who can play both on the right and left side and can cover both Kounde and Balde but I don't know if that's even possible to find.

Marc Pubill sale to AC Milan was mooted to be 8.5m + bonuses. That's cheap, if we are looking for a longer term option.
