I think he arrives with humility. He's not a star here like he once was in PL. He probably considered himself too good for both United and now recently Villa.

New culture with top players in the squad, he has no choice but to get in line and work hard to earn respect.

Ahh, Barcaforum we back. Was feeling quite stale here for a while. Finally, we got them 30pages an hour debate topic.

So, With all this going on, I have changed my mind.
Havent done this ever, but I will take the L if Rashy doesn't get 20 GA next season.

But every time he plays well, I will post this to remind you of your LLLLLL :

I don’t understand why the most think this is a risky or bad deal, there are many loan deals in football world where you have to pay f.e. 3 million loan fee and cover about 80% of salary.
We pay 14 million for one season.
Bayern f.e. If they get diaz for 75 and 10m gross they will have costs of 28 million per year on a 4 year deal and after this the player will be 32 and wont have a MV

We cannot lose more than 14 million, and we need an attacker now.
I think there is no risk in this deal, better than paying 75 for diaz, 60 for nusa or whatever. 95 for mbeumo for a player i didnt know bevor, good united

Edit: Diaz also demands 14 million gross from Bayern, so 33 million a year, compared to 14, one-off for a player of the same age even if Diaz is better but that does not justify the price

1. Diaz is a superior player
2. He would definitely earn less than 14mil.
3. Yes - We could still sell him 2 years down the line when he's 29 in summer 2027.

Just curious, which other top club is loaning United rejects on big money?

Think the premium price has been established, noone is denying it.

Positive example is Anthony and his Betis stint. Plenty of examples of players shining once in different environment.

Other thing for me is Flick. Made many players look better and he earned our trust.

1. yes
2. how would you know?
3. fifa manager thinking, player has to want to leave too, we are not an english city where south american players would love to leave for the same money.

Well, Bayern is offering Diaz 14m. But most important he would count a lot more against the cap because of amortisation costs (probably around 15-20m depending on fee and contract length - wouldn't be comfortable giving him more than a 4 year contract at his age but we would probably need to give him 5 year for SCL purposes).

Barcelona seldom sells players for any amount worth anything. So this idea that if we had purchased a 75m Euro player instead, we could have justified it, for in 2 years, there would have been a top club willing to spend a fortune on buying said 30 old Barca veteran from us… is illogical. That never happens. Ever.

At AV he scored 2 goals and 2 assists in 10 games last season (check total minutes). If he would have played 38 games and remained consistent in his stats, he might have scored 6-8 goals and assisted 6-8 times. For those complaining that we are paying too much, remember that mere weeks ago, we wanted to bring Nico “5 goals per season” in for 65m Euro.

We are leasing him. Leasing is often more expensive, but the total financial outlay is less (say 10-20m vs 60-100m). In addition, the loan comes with other advantages, such as buying us time to scout the market for a younger and more suitable LW player in 1 year from now AND we don’t have to commit 65m euro for one player who may or may not work out. 5 LL goals certainly isn’t enough for Barca @ 65m.

If a top club wants a very good player in an attacking position *temporarily*, the leasing options are gonna be expensive. But the advantages of leasing suit us perfectly well rn considering FFP restrictions and the market availability of top LW players.

And… players who come here almost always give 110 %. Rashy will too. ;)

My God, the English media hates him with a passion. It seems almost personal. Every pundit is looking to put the boot into him. I'm not a fan of him as a player but he doesn't deserve this kind of hate. One would think he is a baby eating serial killer.
Funny thing is so many players have left Utd and done well elsewhere. Look at Anthony. Utd are a toxic, shitty club. I hope Scamorim gets them relegated.

Top club no

Club from a top 5 league yes.

But we would probably still gave him away for free. Or he would reject to go because he would earn here almost as much as Saudis would offer him still playing at a big club and living in a great city.

Anyway, glad we won't have to think about that. Hopefully Bayern will sign Diaz this summer so we won't have any ideas to buy him next year again. Though for 30-40m (with only a year left on cotract) he could be worth considering even at 29 if Rashy experiment won't work well (or if club won't consider keeping him longterm).

But at that point I think we'll need to start thinking about someone who can actually replace Raphinha long term (who that would be is anyone's guess) and a player who is just one month younger is clearly not the answer. I think we'll have to wait for Raphi's successor until 2027 though as next summer a striker and CB will be a higher priority and we probably still won't be in a situation to spend big.
