Pedro Fernández 'Dro'

Excellent stuff on the ball. Often lacked the final pass from what I watched of the match though.

I liked he played more thorough the middle for Spain.

Still, wonder what has happened with him this season, of recent he has been back in the Juvenil B rather than the A.

Having seen him early on, expected he would be in the Juvenil A with the odd B team call up.

But, every now and then, Jorge Mendes suffers a setback. And in this case, in the Barça youth academy, it has been a very high-profile move. Not surprisingly, one of the most promising players in youth football has left the Portuguese agent's advisory board.

This is Pedro Fernández Sarmiento, known as "Dro." At 17, Dro has linked his professional future with another renowned agent, Iván de la Peña. Dro's progress has been spectacular this past season, where he has been one of the most prominent youth players. His potential has led him to participate in several training sessions with the first team.

Is that good or bad for us? DLP always comes across to me as if he has a chip on his shoulder with Barca due to how his career turned out here. And advises his clients as such.

DRO and Juan H expect to have the pre-season with the A btw. I'm guessing it's part talent, and part because there are sharks floating around them willing to pay their clauses this summer.

Pedro Fernández, commonly known as "Dro" at La Masia, is the biggest surprise of this pre-season. The 17-year-old has left Flick, his coaching staff, and the entire squad speechless.

Although he is naturally a '10', Flick has been using him at LW. He, along with Jan Virgili and Jofre Torrents, are the three 'chosen ones' by Flick.

He's a Thiago Alcantara regen.

Sounds like he's the player that's impressed Flick the most so far, but he's also barely played for Barca B/Atletic.

Some tough decisions are going to be made in the club within the next 2-3 years with the midfield talent spawning right now.

Read the same in sport, but I don't see thiago in him, thiago was a true CM from the moment I saw him.

Dro falls into the the category of all these mids we've been producing, not more Attacking mid that central.

Toni
Dro
Guille
Diarra
Hernandez
Embrima
Many more

Decisions have to be made, as long as we have some form of buy back

Random thought next season Juvinel A team of which he will be apart, might actually be more talented than this seasons team that won the youth cup

The Thiago comparison comes from his former youth coach at Vina de Mar. The Alcantara brothers come from there too, and he says he is the most talented player to come through since Thiago.

Dro is very talented, but as Jamrock and I were saying in another thread, this is more media hype than anything right now over having an uncut gem.

Last year it was Toni getting that treatment.

One thing I will say is that I have been keeping an eye on the training videos, and Dro fits in very good sizewise and technically, physically with the first team players. Seems to have slotted in seamlessly on the drills, compared to Toni for example, who looks a bit less coordinated and clumsy, and a little less athletically on the level.

Take that for what it is, the Asian tour will tell us everything.

Yea not getting in the media hype, but form what I saw he is obviously talented.

Going into the summer sport did a massive write up on Guille, saying he's the best talent we've in Midfield since Iniesta..

Then when the summer started and flick preferred toni, the hype machine for behind him.

Now it's DROs turn.

But from what I've seen if him and what I watched if Thiago which was a lot back in the day, I don't see that comparison, Thiago was a proper proper central Midfielder.

Will be interesting to see which one or two makes it, or in 5 years are we just playing a team of midfielders plus yamal and Cubarsi

According to SPORT, Flick informed Dro and Jofre Torrents this Sunday that they will join the squad leaving for Japan on Thursday to play the first friendly against Kobe.

I wonder if half of it is having a half Asian kid joining the first team on the Asian tour. It's just good optics.
