Marcus Rashford

Need a centre forward to be on the receiving end of through ball during counters with pace which has always been missing last season. Lewa is past it and ferran doesn't seem to have the pace too. Was over relying of Raph on this too much last season. Let see if rashford can add a different dimension to the CF play.

Barcelona will pay all of Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford's £325,000-a-week salary in the deal which is set to take the 27-year-old England international to the Spanish club on an initial season-long loan.

I sleep knowing that this is not true.
And daddy Tebas will ensure we don't do this stupidity.

Times used to be reliable. Seems insane that we would pay that. Even for Barca level of loan deals.

Liverpool signed Etikekeke for 90m. We sign Rashford for F knows % of wages.

Levels to this game.

Saying that I don't know which will end up better, or worse.

I understand your point, and I do like you as a poster and have had some pleasant exchanges with you.

It could work out that way. But it doesn't always work out that playing with better players leads to better individual performances. Sometimes less pressure at a smaller club, or everything going through you as a player, can help.

Like I say, I like you as a poster, and am trying to take a balanced position on Rashford, so hope we can keep it respectful.

I'm not particularly a fan of Rashford. He is what is and will always be. Dangerous on his day, but doesn't have as many of those days as he should consistently enough. But a poster here calling him a bum is ridiculous. Pretty much every team in Europe would happily have in as part of their squad if it wasn't for his crazy wage demands. He's lightning quick, direct, and when confident can be a terrific finisher. He's also one of them players that can score from almost nothing.

Feeling is mutual. But now and again I can post first and think second, so my replies and comments might not always show me in a great light. I'll try to do better.

Is he really that quick? Didn't follow him a lot with Aston Villa this spring.

Is he really that quick? Didn't follow him a lot with Aston Villa this spring.

He hit a top speed of 36.15 km/h vs. Brighton in August 2024.

Top five in top speed in the CL in 2023/24.

Sadly UEFA have deleted their speed stats from the CL season that just concluded so cannot find what speed he hit for Aston Villa three months back, but he'll easily be the quickest forward in the club.

Rashford has the ability to make a difference vs better teams, which is what Fati couldn't hope to do. We didn't bring him only to do decently vs likes of Getafe and Oviedo.

If you look at Villa vs PSG 3-2, he had many good actions. Basically ran the PSG left side ragged, beating both Ruiz and Marquinhos with ease. Not many players on the cheap can have such impact vs such opponents.

Played a big part in the first goal, basically created 90% of the 2nd goal, had several other dangerous actions, some of which led to more big chances for Villa. That's what you want to see. I

People are underrating him based on his laziness, but he can be a big game player in the right environment, and I hope the current Barca is the right environment for him to pick it up.

We've moved from a bench warmer at Brighton, to a player that featured for Villa as a starter in CL quarterfinals. That's a big step up for a low cost. We saved 7-8m in gross wages with Fati, and got 3m for a loan. That's roughly what we're paying for 1 season of Rashford. For me, it's a big improvement.

I cannot remember if he got injured or if Emery just took him off for no reason, but Aston Villa lost all the momentum vs. PSG when he made that change.

So in his day he can be absolutely elite, but we cannot afford him to have 10 stinkers in between. So hopefully he can be a consistent contributor.
