Reading the Forza Inter forums, it’s very similar to our Liverpool Barcelona thread from back in the day. Fans pissed at their aging squad, no hope, and blaming the mentality of their team.

What’s also strange to me was the mentality: It seems like they sorta gave up in the second half while against us and Bayern they showed a lot of fight. It was very odd and uncharacteristic of this squad. They played a lot better match two years ago vs Man City

They lost the Cup finale and league. Morale low.

PSG is not impressive at all, I find them pretty average compared to most of the CL winners in the last 20 years. Without a great Donnarumma they were out vs Arsenal , they won vs Liverpool in the pen shoot out, it's not like they crushed every team they played against. UEFAMAFIA wanted to give the CL to Qatar and they finally succeeded, robbed us through Marciniak because they knew Inter was an easy opponent for PSG.

We should have scored 10 goals vs Inter anyway, with Koundé, Baldé and Lewan fit even with a referee paid by Qatar/Uefa we were in the final, such a shame.

Stop overrating PSG btw, Doué is nothing compared to Lamine, and Dembele is still an inconsistent headless chicken.

Pedri is better than Vitinha btw.

They were facing a much better side, that is far more athletic and ready, who scored first.
Had Inter scored goals first, like they did against us and Bayern (2 gullible teams with worse defenders) they would have looked more strong mentally.

Inter was behind for total of 6 minutes in the whole tournament before the final. That was the 6 minutes against us. There other time was conceding last minute against Leverkusen

And it wasn't because they were some juggernaut of a team, they defend fairly well and count on opponents mistakes to win games. They were worse team in each of their quarterfinals and semifinals games.

Last night, opponents didn't give them mistakes, and they were force offensively, they had the better coach tactically too. Inter were simply helpless and it showe.
No mentality or shit, just better showing that they were actually mediocre.

Khaled not letting the better individual defenders line go 😂 😂.

PSG didn't defend better and was better sat up defensively.

Ah they had better defenders 😂 😂.

Are their CBs better than ours, nope.
Did hakimi have a much better game than Garcia, nope.

So we are left with Martin vs Mendes.

Die on that hill though I respect it.

If inter had scored first, the result wouldn't have changed

They destroyed both Arsenal and Liverpool in terms of quality of play.

Stop fooling yourself.

In the first game they literally didn't let Liverpool out of the penalty area, but lost 0-1. Just unlucky.
xG 1.78 to 0.27 in favor of PSG.

In the second game Liverpool created more chances than in the first game, but PSG still created more chances and were better for the absolute majority of the game. xG 2.56 to 1.64 in favor of PSG.

In the games against Arsenal they also controlled most of the match. Yes, they lost in terms of xG, but xG needs to be taken into account in the context of the game.

I hate PSG, but I watched both games and to deny that PSG looked better is absolutely stupid.

XG, is the great tactical analysis some thought was ground breaking when thinking about the game, and thought inter could win.

Never really stood a Chance, if anyone was actually watching PSG this season.

xG is a good tool, but in the context of the game.

You can completely dominate the game, create 3-4 good chances per game.

But then you get two random penalties in your goal, concede after a corner, and as a result the xG ratio is for example 2.8 vs. 2.0.

Again, these numbers need to be looked at in the context of the game.

Plus it doesn't take into account game state. Conceding chances when 2 or 3 0 up. Also that a team can get outplayed but create a few chances on the counter and 'win the xG' as Man United's games have went many times this season.

Then you remember it doesn't take into account player quality etc, it acts as if all players are equal on the end of a chance.

It's a deeply flawed metric. It's only an 'ok tool' and only when you look long-term, not on an individual game basis.

Forum,

How would we have looked against PSG?

Personally, Barca would win the face-off. For two reasons:

-Barca is more efficient in attacking transition
-Barca deals with adversities better than any team currently in world football.
PSG on the other hand didn't have to face any serious set-back (injuries, poor refeering, scoreline, luck) throughout their knock-out campaign. However, the one time their defence was tested, they were on the verge of going out.
In any potential face-off, unlike Inter if Barca went down early they would still mount a comeback but doubt a trailing PSG can pull off the same against this Barca. So all things equal (full strength and fully rested) Barca outscores PSG. No doubt in my mind.
