Don't think it's a lack of excitement. We should know how much he cares by now. It's more about performance anxiety. Goal took the pressure off his shoulders, allowed him to play more freely.

Perhaps this is the case with Argentina NT which he definitely is passionate about, however in the past when he was with us in some crucial games (I think he did care) his game was clearly off due to him not being "in" enough, I'd say.

:lol: He's had so many winners/clutch goals in El Clasico and versus the likes of United, Bayern, RM etc in CL KOs.

Like every other all time great, he's also had big games where he's come up short. But the whole "didn't expect a clutch goal from him" is downright stupid.
I'm about his Arg stint. Although yeah, in WC group stages he has scored couple of winners previously, so i make myself corrected. Let's see what happen, if they get to playoffs.

A lot of concrete at Leo's feet today because of the fuckup against Saudi Arabia. Mexico match was redemption, Poland game will be easier as long as the squad is focused in their task.

Nervousness also kinda takes the joy out of playing football so naturally it causes you to appear less excited. Can be difficult to tell which is which. You also have to remember that he always wanted to play every game. I'm sure managers would have loved to rest him if there had been games where he just didn't care. Became something of an nagging paradox seeing him walk around for large portions of games looking completely disinterested but knowing that he on some level he still cared deeply. Some would maybe say him wanting to play every game was something more akin to arrogance but I don't think so.

Only a goal like that could open the mexican bus. Great inspiration from Leo, still a long way to go tho.

One of those shots that had to be inch perfect to work.

Argentina gonna be relegation level after this tournament with this guy retiring.
