I would say someone like Putin is far more famous than Ronaldo, Ronaldo just plays football, who cares really. But I would say Messi is definitely a more beloved player than CR7 and the biggest name in the sport, it doesn't get bigger than Messi in football.

As for where Ronaldo plays, I think he should stay where he is, he is part of the reason they are in the Europa League so he should try and get them out of it.

Tru although I'm not sure he is the most famous person in the world.

I think someone like Trump, Obama, or Putin might be ahead on that.

There is no way he's more famous than Putin or Trump or any sitting US president of the modern era basically.

Football simply doesn't impact people's lives that much. For better or worse, political heads of world superpowers do (China too but they're more isolationist and US and Russia are century old enemies).

Political leaders have a very different kind of "fame". You can probably make comparisons between sportsmen and actors in terms of fame. Politicians have their "fame" due to the very important positions they hold which directly affects a lot of people. For me that isn't as well earned as an actor or a sportsman.

Anyways, Messi is more beloved in general but I bet Ronaldo is more famous and a bigger name. This is the only place where we're having this. Normally, people agree that Ronaldo is a bigger name/more famous even though more people comsider Messi the better player. Two different things. People need to understand it.

Either you are famous, or you are not.

If you just said "most famous footballer" then you would prob be right, he is at least top two not much between them, but isn't anywhere near the top overall though.

Probably one of the more famous names amongst 18-40 year olds.

I'd hazard a guess and say that Ronaldo, Messi and Virat Kohli are the worlds most famous sportsmen.

India loves cricket and it's so densely populated that he's bound to be up there.

If we are defining fame with social media followers, as that seems to be the modern benchmark.

Trump is way more famous than a Ronaldo or Messi. For us football freaks it's impossible to imagine how you can't know Messi or Ron but believe me there are a lot of guys outside who know nothing about them while you will find a lot less people who doesnt know trump for example.
