21 - Frenkie de Jong

Personally I would rather have Bernardo Silva, Kounde and Raphinha or another talented RW than see us spend 50-60m on a 34 year old Lewandowski and give him 22-24m gross per year.

Great point. Me too. Way more future.

There's no short-term fix here, so better buy some players who can help us now and in the future.

Unfortunately, as Joan said, De Jong is not consistent enough and is a rather capricious player style-wise. He has spells of some great games, but the good form fizzles out and so does his output. He seems to be to be a player requiring a whole midfield, or even the team, to be built around him and give him the freedom he wants. We have better midfielders than De Jong, possibly two even in the near future, so at Barcelona that is not possible.
I don't really think he's all that capricious. He just had to be our starting DM right from the first season. At this point, with all the new blood incoming, better chemistry would be made and our mid wouldn't get folded every time a semi-pro team from other country comes up against us in official tournament.

I would rather keep the same team, than spend anything on a 34 year old player, no matter how good he is.

Kounde, Bernardo, Gaya, a new RB and RW would be a dream window.

Reports were that we don't believe we can close the Frenkie sale this month, so that should turn negotiations hopefully in our favour again.

Would hardly be the worst case to keep him either if it comes down to that :)

Also I would like to see United transfer strategy falling apart again. If they don't get Frenkie they are fucked (again).

Even if they get De Jong, they're still fucked. Got a lot of rebuilding to do at that club.
