I wonder if they settled to be the Bayern of France (while bringing back the best of the French talent that had already left the country) if the team would be more motivated.

There not as bad as the Madrid result as it was a bit of a freak turn around though. But Neymar seems mentality checked out and Messi suffering PTSD of the ghosts of CL past. You don't really want to build your attack around those two post Mbappe.

If they ever want to be good they need to get rid of Nasser and Leonardo first and hire competent people in their place.

Doubt they do though since Nasser is close to the owner and Leonardo is Nasser's right hand man. He chose Leonardo over Tuchel even when the squad reportedly wanted Tuchel to stay, and Tuchel isn't someone to hold down to superstars even.

i dont think the model would work for them because french football simply doesnt have the pedigree Bayern has. the best french footballers will always want to play in England or Spain, esp. after Zidane and Henry. Bayern at least has managed to establish a solid european legacy as well as a domestic hegemony so the best german players will find the bavarians attractive

germany historically (i.e before like 2012) has also had 2-3 decent teams that have pushed bayern as well. there are no clubs in france that can really trouble paris hence the meme league jokes

(this season's embarrassing losses notwithstanding)

You might have a point considering it was always reported that players like Pogba didn't want to join PSG. Even now it sounds like he'll reject PSG and return to Juventus on free transfer instead.

And Camavinga seemingly rejected more money from PSG to join Real Madrid too(easy choice really lol).

I won't be surprised if Qatar stops the big money spending after the World Cup and focuses on buying up French local talent for cheap instead though. It's the smarter model for a team like PSG anyway if they're able to to do it.

France produces a lot of talent.

These superstar moves haven't worked out for them at all and they're about to lose the biggest French star since Zidane to Real Madrid. A local lad at that too.

Also it hasnt worked because they have preferred to give big wages to the marketable players. Beckham, Ibra, Cavani, Messi, Neymar.

And of course millions on the Lo Celsos and Pastores rather than solid national or Ligue1 talents.

Only one that wasn't of that mold was Mbappe.

I don't doubt that some top french players would prefer to move to EPL, but there is also alot going to Germany wjich is inexcusable to lose.

Leonardo and their approach has been very South America (and Barcelona lol) facing. Sometimes it worked (Thiago Silva, Marqunhos) but on the whole better local talents have been ignored.

I think their squad is pretty poor in all honesty. They've got Mbappe and Verratti in their primes, the rest are past their best or average.

They've got no identity or system other than buying players who have seen better days but are shirt sellers. Getting Neymar in his prime looked like it could have been the start of a revolution but understandably the attraction of playing your peak years in Ligue 1 isn't there for most players so that never really materialised.

This guy is just unbelieavable.

Nasser Al-Khela?fi: "Super League clubs know that they have no chance. There is a war in Ukraine and its people have no place to sleep, and we are talking about the Super League?"

Nasser Al-Khela?fi: "The problem with ESL clubs is that they don't have stability. They don't have a long-term financial vision. They keep talking about their legal contract, what they forget is football is a social contract."

Nasser Al-Khela?fi: "I could have taken the cheque for €400m. ESL invited me. Then when I said no, they said they didn't invite me. That sums them up."

He is a fool who thinks corrupted-state money can buy the world.

The only correct thing he said (social contract) will hit him in the face like a boomerang soon:
When ESL starts, and fans across Europe begin to love it, then the social contract would have been revised and he will be sitting alone in the dark.

He will prob get kicked out in the next 1-2 years, and another SD will walk begging ESL clubs to let PSG in

Nasser is probably the most hilariously clueless person in football atm after Barto was binned. Wasn't he a 2nd rate tennis player? The fuck does this guy know about football and what qualifies him to occupy this job? Not that I'm complaining...

Just that PSG really are run like someone's toy.
