He is an absolute beast.

Most people on this forum never notice these hidden passes between the lines. They're just dumb.

Literally everyone knows that Busi's main strength is his passes between the lines. The fact you're pointing this out prompts thinking that you're not really aware of what his other strengths are

I can talk for a very long time about the positive qualities of Busquets, but I'm afraid that idiots who think that De Jong can do better than Sergi in position 6 will not like it.

De Jong cannot be a lone DM, that I agree on.

He won't be lone DM. Under a manager who knows what he is doing, the midfielders will be playing pretty close to one another most of the time, especially when the opponent presses us.

Koeman doesn't know how to play a proper 4-3-3.

It's true, but tbh, this Spain team is better coached than Barca. A younger, faster team. At Barca, the manager is average, clueless tactically, and he's surrounded by slow players like Roberto and Pique.

Busi plays better for Spain, and it's not just this game.

Which means the issue is the manager / team setup NOT Busqs ...

Would have been interesting to see how Busquets got on had Italy stayed with eleven men.

They had started to break through middle of park for fun and were letting him on ball at half way line as it looked decent but was not all that much a threat and was taking Spain out to try and hit on the break.

It's both. Busi is a liability in some areas. The worse the manager, the harder it is to cover for those deficiencies. He is an extremely slow player.

You can cover for his problems, but only if you have a fast team around him and if your tactics of support are spot on (meaning players have to quickly show for a pass every single time he's on the ball, which doesn't happen at Barca because they are instructed differently).

Watch Spain, whenever Busi encounters pressure, the corresponding interior, and the closest fullback, or even the winger in that side shows up for pass. If Busi is slight to the left, Koke and Alonso, and sometimes Oyarzabal too, will show up for a pass. This eases up the pressure as the player on the ball is always in contact with his teammates. If he's more to the right, Gavi, Azpi, or Torres/Sarabia will show up. At Barcelona, the shape is way more terrible with less access between teammates. That's where the rigidity of conservative managers hurts you.

At Barca, this support which is critical in 4-3-3 is very weak. The worse the support, the more Busi has to handle pressure on his own. He's terrible at that. If he stays more than 2 seconds on the ball trying to figure out a pass while pressed, he'll lose it or give it away. You have to make sure the players help him out. De Jong vs Atletico spent more time as a forward than offering support in midfield.

He's also very poor at pressing himself. He has no business leaving his position to press upfront as he does at Barca. Looks like a slow clown doing it, while leaving gaps that are left uncovered. Other players should press upfront, while he should keep his position more. Another clueless tactical aspect from Koeman.

But all that being said, there's a case to be made that Busi is not worth covering for even under a better manager. It's much easier to phase him out. If Enrique found a way to play him, fine, but at Barca we shouldn't do it.

Some people like JamDav are always nit picking when it comes to Busi even when he plays great.

While FDJ gets a passes for a half a season cardio shitting in the midfield :D

Pointing out how often Busquets is shite is 'nitpicking'.

The folk who highlight any good games are the ones 'nitpicking'.

Try that one again.

FDJ not been as good as should have been but far better player than Busquets. Can name some top games from FDJ last season for Barca.. best player in final of only trophy the team won and best player against PSG across the two ties etc.

Cant name one big game Busquets played well in.
