As others have said:
Potential = R9
Higher peak = R9
Longetivity, more trophies, better career in the end = CR7

R9 was already at his prime aged 20.
You know how we often say: a player is young, he has potential, he needs time, he needs confidence, he needs a season or two to fit into a team.
Well, this is how R9 played RIGHT AWAY in his only season at Barca, 96/97, aged 20.
Played 49 matches that season, scored 47 goals.
Everyone called him an alien back then:

Sadly, several knee injuries and hormonal problems ruined his career.

Man, the bitter truth is just hard to admit sometimes, it hurts tbh. What if these Brazilian players (Ronnie, R9 , Neymar in particular) had good behaviours and gave a damn about their careers when they entered their primes, I'm sure that fuckers like CR7 will not come close when it comes to the GOAT conversation. Just sad stuff tbh.

If the question is "better footballer" it's hands down the Brazilian. The only on on par with Messi talent wise as a footballer. But with the health issue and injuries he couldn't sustain his level unfortunately.

I mean, he wasn't really.

Messi is the goat for me due to not only the longevity of his dominance but the matter in which he did it. Ronaldo only was able to be dominant in the 1st few years of his 20s because of his knee and health issue shortly after, but like Messi, the matter in which he did it was other worldly. At his best, Ronaldo was superior in every way minus vision/passing.

Not just better career CR7, better overall player in the most important chapter ― body of work over an extended period.

How is he a better overall player again? Don't think CR7 can ever bulldoze his way past defense like Ronaldo, the phenomenon! He's had a great aereal threat and pace too

PS: I get what you say; CR7 desire & thirst for fitness is second to none

Dribbling? I'll take peak Messi dribbling teams from the halfway line and scoring. I only ever saw one player on youtube with Messi's dribbling ability and that was Maradona.

CRs peak is a bit underrated, 11/12 or 13/14 seasons are at a top, top level by basically any metric.

No, he was never the dribbler R9 was, but say, his crossing, heading ability or long shot was probably better.
Not the abilities one first think connect with "genious", but they are still important abilities.

In todays era when players are so controlled and the fitness-lifestyle has taken over, we will see many players who have the statistics CR7 has. Haaland will probably end his career scoring more goals than CR. Not that he nearly as talented. You cant judge everything by a statistic.

Yeah and also 12/13 , he was in a very good shape but the team was a lot weaker than in 11/12.

Haaland has great potential to break a lot of goalscoring records but lets see, remember people said Mbappe will be the next R9 and yeah you see how wrong this was (so far). Anyways, would be nice if Haaland comes to us when we can afford him.

People acting like players who score 800 goals (just about) like Messi and CR7 come around every few years

Halaand has to score 50 goals a year for 16 years to MATCH that, let alone eclipse it. I think Messi and CR7 have another 100 goals left in them too. So make that 18 years.

Lewa scores a lot. I think Halaand can score like that as well. Probably not at C.Ronaldo level.

Brazil Ronaldo was much more transcendent player but lack of consistency and too much injuries.

You mean R9 was superior to Messi minus passing/vision??? Hell no.

The myth that prime R9 is better than Messi should be put to sleep. Prime R9, amazing as he was, is not touching maradona or messi.arguibly is not even touching Ronaldinho 2005 2006.

Yeah but i see potential in Haaland, he will surely score a lot of goals, lets hope he wont touch the records of CR/Messi
