but posters on here taking every chance they get, Messi should leave, Pedri is overrated, Ter Stegen is shit, Alba is finished, and now it is De Jongs turn, you guys are fucking clueless, half the posters on here hate the club and the players:lol:

If someone is not good in our opinion, why should we pretend?
Just because he is young and our player?

For example, I started to post bad about Dembele after 2 matches for us since I have seen right away that he is very, very limited IQ wise and that we are in deep problems with him.
What was I supposed to do?
Pretend that he is not dumb, support him and say: everything is fine, we are Barca, Dumbele will rule the world?

Or Mats, who is a horrible, horrible, horrible GK whenever we face a high pressure match in Europe.
We can voice our concerns and hope that Mats will be sold or we can close our eyes, hold our hands and pretend that nothing is wrong, that Mats is fine and that everyone else is a problem (usual scapegoats like Barto, Ev, Rakitic, Roberto, Pique, Lenglet and not Mats).

About Frenkie, I don't think that he is a bad player, but imo, he is very, very overrated by our fanbase since Ajax days.
At Barca, he consistently plays at 6,5 rating, and that is even against weak La Liga sides.
Against bigger teams, he is a total non factor.

My biggest two problems with him are:
1. quite shitty forward/passing/creative game for Barca's standards. But not only for Xavi-Iniesta standards, but even for Deco, Fabregas, Rafinha standards.
2. the 2nd thing is: he is the new Fabregas. This guy doesn't fit on any single position in a team. He is scared, weak-ish and positionally bad for a CB and a CDM. Yet for a CM or Iniesta's position, he is horrible passing/vision/creativity wise.
I see him as a slightly better version of Motta/Van Bommel, who were hated by our fans 15 years ago because they were not good enough technically wise compared to Deco, Xavi, Iniesta.
People here dream about 433 and hail it, so my question again is: imagine if we have 100-150m to spend for 1-2 new midfielders, CAN ANYONE write one midfield trio combination with Frenkie in it, where that combination makes sense?
Any combination with him as a CAM or a CM will be meh and we will never get anywhere near Barca's midfield-passing standards with Frenkie as one of two CMs.
The only other option is a CDM, but Frenkie seems to be worse than a granny Busi because he is meh at defending, he is vacating his postion often (which is a no go for pivots), he loves to venture into the attack with his solo runs (which is suicidal for pivots).

Frenkie just looks visually good/shiny on the eye test, but when you dig deeper, what exactly is he bringing to a team except stamina?

I'll just write a few midfield combinations with him:
Frenkie, Puig, Pedri:
cons: Puig can't defend, Pedri can't defend, Frenkie is all over the place as a pivot. 0:6 defeat against Bayern or Psg incoming.

La Masia pivot, Frenkie, Pedri: Pedri can't shoot or score. Frenkie can't pass or create.
So, huge problems in attacking part even against midtable La Liga teams.

You can try other combinations.
I am giving you 100m to spend, please, write one midfield trio which makes sense.

In defense, he is not good enough.
In attack, he doesn't have any vision. His only vision is to take the ball at a CB position, dribble past two players and pass to someone else.
When you move him to a CM, where he can't dribble in his own half from deep, he doesn't know what to do with the ball.

Arthur had one good trait: press resistance and getting the ball out of our half, and after that he was breaindead and without any ideas.
Frenkie is similar. His only trait is: dribbling past 2 players in our half and game over after that.

Imagine if we actually kept a magical Frenkie-Arthur duo (for whom people thought that we will dominate the world for the next 10 years, lol).
Those two guys would get the ball the ball out of our half and once they step into the opposition's half, they would look eachother in the eyes and say: "I have no idea what to do with the ball now, do you have any ideas? I need some help, does anybody know what to do with the ball now?"

For the end, one more time, imagine this:
Year is 2022, Messi has retired.
We don't have an attacking creator in Messi anymore.
Other players and midfield need to take responsibility and create & score.
Now imagine some shitty attacking trio like Griezmann and 2 guys, with Frenkie-Pedri behind them:
1. attackers can't create and score
2. Pedri can't shoot, Frenkie can't create anything
That really sounds like the 5th placed La Liga or the 13th placed EPL team.

For the 10th time, please, can anyone write a lineup, without Messi in attack and with Frenkie in midfield, where that team makes any sense? Thanks

Frenkie would start in every single team in the world. Whether or not he suits what we're trying to build, probably not right now. Hardly the right place for him to be when we have Busquets starting every game, Pedri who might run a lot but is quite weak defensively and offensively (much like Frenkie) and then no engine besides him, we were going for Wijnaldum to offer that but obvs didn't work out.

He'd absolutely destroy at Bayern with Goretzka and Kimmich besides him. If I was him it's where I'd be lining up to go. That 3 could dominate midfields for the next half a decade or more.

I dont know about clueless, they got 2/4 right. Ter stegen is shit and alba is pretty much finished.

Alba is not finished dude, fuck me:lol: He is still one of the best left-backs in Europe and Ter Stegen one of the best Goalkeepers, neither are the absolute best but to call them shit and finished is ridiculous.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, I just don't agree with you on De Jong and I don't think you will find many who do agree, you were right about Dembele though. In my opinion, De Jong is a top-class player, no doubt about it and would start in any other team in the world, Bayern, Man City, Liverpool, PSG you name it, would all be better with him in the team. Whether Barca are getting the best out of him, that's another question. I think he would suit other clubs better but he wants to play at Barca and we are lucky to have him and he just turned 24 last month so it would be a huge mistake to let him go.

Based on BBZ calculations, if you are pessimistic about every transfer, you are way more likely to know right. So it's pretty easy to "know". Just say every signing busts and you are correct 80% oof the time or whatever the percentage was exactly.

He is 32 years old. Every player is pretty much finished at this point. And ter Stegen is not of the best. Any GK playing for a big team today is better than him. PSG has 2 GKs better than him.
Then there are the intangibles. They are both mental midgets.

Though to build a functioning midfield around him when you think about it.

I assume the word is tough?
If we are planning to build a midfield around him, then I agree. But if we are planning to build a midfield with him then I don't think it is tough.
He fits the Rakitic role IMO, a bit different but he is a guy who works so hard and can score some goals.
Pedri should fit into Iniesta role, and we are left with the toughest task in replacing Busquets.
Also, a more mobile attack will improve our midfield immensely.

Let's see his synergy with Pedri next season.

LE gave an inkling (ok Club football > National) that Pedri can be part of a very controlling midfield.

Koeman hasn't managed that thus far.

If we don't look better next season, would anybody be opposed to liquidating de Jong and finding someone more complimentary to Pedri next summer?

Agreed.

A physical CDM behind Pedri and Frenkie would be the best option. A Fabinho type would fit in well, although there aren't many in the world.

Why build the midfield around him tho?

Build it around Pedri and have De Jong in the Koke role that we saw with Spain.

If Pep had de Jong, he would make him his leftback. We should do the same. Get those runs like Spaziola and Maehle.

Then focus on building the midfield around Pedri, Gavi and Demir gasgas style.
