How to approach the rebuild

Most realistic approach:

In:

Garcia (free)
Gini (Free)
Depay (Free)
Emerson (Free?)
Gaya
Striker - 85% of whatever money we have availalbe for transfers should go here

Out:

Lenglet
Umtiti
Busi
Pjanic
Messi (if he wants to go)
Coutinho
Griezmann
Braithwaite

Fixed. Griezmann has to go, this experiment with him must come to an end. he's not a striker, he's not a winger, he cant dribble past any marker, he isnt fast. he needs to go.

And with what funds are we going to buy Haaland? He will cost a lot more than what we can get from selling Griezz, Dembele, and Cou (assuming any team still wants him).
I edited my post and I added a little bit more. 100m seems a bit too much, but we only need that much. I am sure we will find a way. Haaland is the only player that we need to buy. Garcia and Wijnaldum for free.

I have to agree with Richard.H - forget the FIFA/PES fantasy thing. You don't just earn/buy coins and improve your team with MESSI/CRISTIANO/NEYMAR black ball. Absolutely no chance we buy Haaland or any other hyped player given club's debt. Also recently PSG demanded 200m for Mbappe, if Real Madrid pay, then it's done deal. Dortmund are no idiots, Barcelona directors were and I expect Haaland's asking price to be around 130-160m.

Haaland has about a 75m release clause in 2022. BVB may not qualify for the CL, and I could see Raiola forcing them to sell Haaland a season earlier. Spending around 100m is not impossible if we take into account that Messi is going to leave.

Even if he lasts to next summer his release clause is basically irrelevant as they will want whatever clubs are willing to pay for him to go as signing on fee/agent/father fees.

It will be an auction and if clubs are willing to pay 150m+ for him that is likely what it will take.

Being linked with Real and just about every EPL side. Barca dont have a chance.

If Messi leaves, which seems like a certain, the club will need a poster boy. They'll either try to take out a loan to fund the transfer or rely on improving Barca's current players' image. Which will no doubt fail.

Clubs will not pay double his price for just one season + BVB could use extra 15-25m + MR would want his client to play in the CL. It is a matter of convincing Haaland to come to us rather than go somewhere else, and I have already discussed our chances previously.

That will be another very dumb move by the club. We cannot afford a poster boy and this club does not need to take anymore loans out. That would be insane. It would ensure another 3-4 seasons of chaos.

What doesn't go to BVB, will go to the player and his agent. They'll be asking for enormous fees in any case.

You are not getting what I said.

I said that it is most likely they try to maximise whatever clubs are willing to pay for him and due to the buy out clause the difference will go in signing fee/agent fees and possibly to his father.

Nothing to do with clubs chosing to pay more if that is stance they take.

Barcelona have a good squad, and surely they can find some more talent in the youth teams in the coming years
I am sure with the new president some money will be cleared for transfers as well.
And quite a few players can be sold, freeing wages and getting rid of deadweight: Griezmann, Dembele, Lenglet, Umtiti, Pjanic, Braithwaite to name the most obvious.
Eric Garcia seems to be a done deal. Thiago would be the dream transfer. Other than that, young, hungry players with as much Barca-DNA as possible.
Most important is to get a good manager with a clear view of how to play. A Setien with a spine. Xavi is the obvious candidate.

I agree. It is definitely not his clause 75m. I assume, excluding his salary, should cost anything from 90-115m either summers (2021/2022).

How do you think the story ends? Barca obviously thinks its revenue is about to fall sharply after Messi leaves (some figures have been leaked). If there's any truth to it, losing Messi and not replacing him with a proper poster boy might be the costliest solution.
