I don't think comparing average attendance to other clubs is really the best criteria. Of course we'll have bigger attendance than most clubs because we have the biggest stadium. It's better to use capacity % for comparisions with other clubs or just compare average attendance with previous seasons. I'll use capacity% here but it's pretty easy to calculate (approximate) average attendance.

So far this season we have the lowest attendance since Gaspart days. As [MENTION=19742]vlad[/MENTION] said terrorist attack is clearly one of the reasons for that. Jordi Cardoner mentioned political instability in Catalunya as another one.

But on the other hand we still have almost all big matches at home with RM, AM, Bilbao, Valencia and Villarreal still visiting Camp Nou so I assume our average attendance at the end of the season will be around 70-72k which is lower than during MSN seasons but overall not really as bad compared to the last 10-15 seasons except MSN and peak years of Pep's team.

Of course doing a correlation between average attendance, average ticket prices and team success over the last 10, 15 or 20 years would be even better but I'm too lazy for that.

I guess this is the proof that camp nou was filled of tourists and that the number of catalans who go to the stadium is abysmal

Had a drink with him and his wife and he informed me he had 4 season tickets and I could visit a game with him for a discounted price. He renews the 4 tickets every year and they will never be taken off him regardless of whether he goes to the games alone or not.

Yep, basically people just sell tickets to tourist because season ticket is very cheap.

Think about it:

Losing Neymar(team expectation changed, everybody thought we would suck, especially after 5-1 loss to Madrid in summer.)
Political situation in Barcelona (Police beating people!!)
Terrorist attack (enough said)

To a lot of fans/tourist, these are good reasons not to go BCN and watch football games.

I can understand the security risk as a reason to not attend games.

But if losing Neymar and the subsequent loss to Madrid would cause fans to skip matches, then we really have some of the most pathetic fans ever.

Fair weather fans to be exact.

It doesn't really matter, they fine clubs peanuts compared to the flow of money in football.

Attendance is matter of prestige for FC Barcelona, having the biggest stadium in Europe. I think Borussia Dortmund dominate attendance stats worldwide for more than a decade.

Also terrorism and the Catalan independence movements influenced our attendance a lot, compared to previous seasons.

TTourism in Catalunya is down, from separatism. The entire local economy is down. In Quebec, Montreal was permanently hurt economically from the separatism 40-50 years ago.

Don't forget that we played a league game under closed doors. That has dragged down our average way down.

Expect a big game tonight. In some ways I'm glad we lost in the away game so we can have again that feeling of a decider played on Camp Nou. Hopefully with a lot of fans in the stands.
