Potential Signings for FC Barcelona.

With the end of the 2020/21 La Liga season fast approaching, it looks like Barcelona are set to miss out on the title once again according to the top bookmakers and after losing the most recent El Classico to arch-rivals Real Madrid. Since taking over, Ronald Koeman has had quite the job on his hands trying to persuade Lionel Messi to sign a new contract, but fans are becoming disillusioned with their lacklustre performances.

The glory days of Pep Guardiola?s side seem a distant memory, but if Koeman keeps his job this summer, he will surely have to improve his squad to challenge for silverware. But who should he bring in? Let?s look at five potential signings for FC Barcelona this summer that will bolster their squad.

Neymar Jr.

Almost everyone in the footballing world was shocked when Neymar swapped Barcelona for Paris in 2017 in a transfer deal that made him the most expensive footballer of all time. Although he now seems more settled in Paris than he once was, the allure of returning to the Camp Nou and being reunited with Messi could prove too much to resist for Neymar if given a chance. While it would be a sensational signing, few would argue that Neymar?s return would be a great surprise, given his love for the Catalan giants.

Kun Aguero

After announcing his decision to leave Manchester City after ten glorious years, Kun Aguero could prove to be one of the best free transfer signings of all time. Partnering him upfront with Messi is a frightening prospect, and although they?re both the wrong side of thirty, they would cause havoc for any defence in the world. With rumours circulating in the British press that Aguero might be set to remain in the Premier League if he is to return to Spain, Barcelona fans would certainly hope that it would be in their colours.

Harry Kane

England captain Harry Kane could be set to break Alan Shearer?s all-time Premier League goalscoring record if he spends the rest of his career in the EPL. Yet with Tottenham floundering in mid-table and Champions League football looking unlikely for the next season, few would be surprised to see Harry Kane move on at the end of this season. There?s a fair chance that he could move to a rival British club, but he could always follow in Gary Lineker?s footsteps and join Barcelona. An archetypal goal scorer, Kane could propel Barca back to the forefront of European football.

David Alaba

After thirteen successful years at Bayern Munich, Austria international David Alaba has announced that he will be leaving the German giants after winning a hatful of trophies. A versatile defender who is often utilized at centre back by Bayern, he could be the ideal long-term replacement for the ageing Gerard Pique, who is now 34. Like Aguero, Alaba would be available on a free transfer and would prove to be a shrewd piece of business if Barcelona could attract him to the Camp Nou. If rumours are to be believed, however, Alaba could be on his way to Real Madrid.

Gini Wijnaldum

Energetic Dutch international midfielder Gini Wijnaldum has consistently been linked with a move away from Anfield this season, with Barcelona a likely destination. He would certainly add dynamism and strength to the Barca midfield that has all-too-often been bypassed and outbattled this season. Having just turned 30, Wijnaldum is enjoying the prime years of his career and has won the Premier League title and Champions League while at Liverpool. As a fellow countryman of current Barca boss Koeman, he could be on his way to Barcelona this summer.
