Sergiño Dest

so telling it as i see it makes me miserable? don't get why people get so wound up when things are not working for some players that they had high hopes for.

one of them turns world class? you do understand what that means, right? neither are showing the potential required to reach that level. and i doubt it they are late bloomers and become worldclass players later on.

I hardly got wound up, and being realistic is nice and all, but you are pessimistic as fuck, which is fine by me as well, just a tad annoying to read. Whats your alternative anyway? Both have shown enough and are still very young.

Dejong looked like mediocrity couple of months ago. Now arguably best mid in Europe. People are fickle and impatient in the era of social media. Having a potential is not the same as fulfilling it. Now Trincao having couple of good games and scoring first goal has turned a page, but Puig is next Gijon squad player after having a mediocre showing. Never ceases to entertain these hysteric posters.

that's where we at right now, not my fault we sign mediocre players. tbf i think we'll sign emerson anyway and let him and dest battle it out for next season. roberto will be moved to midfield rotation option.

the money has been payed for dest so there's no going back. don't think we'll sell after just one season.

Again, sell for who anyway? There arent any alternatives even if we had money. There is no Dani Alves playing at Sevilla for example. Emerson is a bit of a niche player, but hes physically very imposing, which is nice, and Dest looks pretty tidy on the ball, so theres hope.

I am just glad Semedo is gone to be fair. Maybe that naturally lowers my expectations.

So true, its ridiculous how the meter goes from hot to cold in matter of days for some players. Another thing I have never understood is picking some player and then just being the ultimate fanboy of him. Every time he plays good u come to forums and social media, every time he has poor game, then shut up and wait until a good game.

we would be absolute idiots to sell Dest after one season.

Needs to be given at least a year - 18 months to make a real judgement. It's not like he's had catastrophically bad performance week in week out. He's playing in a new team next to an inexperienced CB (even if it is Araujo), sometimes that CB has been Frenkie/Mingueza/Lenglet/Umtiti. Then he's had the midfield ahead of him not really settling down so it's not exactly the best conditions to show what you're made of

Just saw Drenthes goal for Real Murcia and came to think of Dest.
Not so similar players, and I do think Dest has looked very decent so far, but an example of how a players "potential" might show with the years passing.

edit: I obviously wouldn't have spent money on him, but since he's here, he's a decent option. I think those hyping him now will be the same people trashing him later when he doesn't become much better.
