Formed in 1886 Linfield play their games at Windsor Park, a 14000 all seater stadium. Northern Ireland also play their international games here.

Linfield are the 2nd most decorated club in the world, behind Glasgow Rangers. Whom Linfield have a strong friendship with. Linfield are currently 3rd in the Danske Bank Premiership, behind Crusaders and league leaders Cliftonville.

Linfields manager David Jeffery this week has celebrated 16 years in charge and in the past 7 years he has guided Linfield to 6 League and Cup doubles.

Linfield have supporters clubs all over the world, Berlin, Copenhagen, Australia, Canada, Texas and New Zealand.

Linfield are now on a 12 game unbeaten run, but still 13 points off top spot.

Yesterday Linfield received bad news on 3 fronts. Their keeper Alan Blayney broke his finger and will be out for several weeks. And their player of the year Albert Watson along with striker Daryl Fordyce have both said they wish to leave the club from February, leaving the club in a really difficult situation.

Linfield last night where eliminated from the final competition of the season. We are currently 3rd in the league with approx 8 games to go, we won't win the league, but will hopefully finish 2nd.

For those interested, Linfield will play live on Sky Sports this Monday 18th March vs Crusaders if anyone wants to watch.

FCBelfast8 what do you think of the Setanta cup. As a trophy designed to pit the best of the North and South against each other it finally had the big tie it was designed for, Shanrock rovers vs Linfield. While Rovers were the superior team over both legs the game was marred by sectarian chanting etc from both sides. Do you think it's a competition worth keeping considering the trouble it creates? Personally I think the trouble could have been much worse, especially with the flag protest in Belfast.

I'd like to think that one day both leagues could join together, it would make it much stronger and more interesting. If Rangers and Celtic can play against one another every year then why not the North and South of Ireland teams. The biggest obstacle could be funding for security during the higher profile games and I also think both football associations are on bad terms considering how many Northern players the Republic has poached.
